Remarkable only because I'm so old, but interesting as evidence of progress.

An image captured using a converted IR camera with a 590 filter. The channel-swap first applied to the image produced blue and yellow colors. Subsequent color grading added a third color, a darkish magenta, to the shadows. Main subject: a Caterpillar excavator on a construction site.

This photo is a bit of a mystery to me. It looks like it has had a miniaturizing effect applied to it, but it hasn't. I don't understand why it looks so much like a miniature. Having taken the photo from an elevation above most of the scene may be a factor, as may the lack of larger surrounding area to put the scene in more of a spatial context. I have never tried using a miniature effect; maybe doing so wuld give me some insight.

A wide-angle view of a Caterpillar excavator captured using a 590nm infrared filter at a somewhat off-kilter camera angle. Color manipulation based on channel-swap in Photoshop and refinements in Lightroom.

An abstract image from a construction site.

Sessler excavator on a construction site at which a new bridge is being built across an underlying road, replacing an obsolete railroad bridge that was beyond repair. The bridge will serve the rail trail that now crosses through this area. The "steps" at lower right will provide the anchor for one end of the deck of the bridge.

This, as a few others I've scanned before, is from a company album (ca. mid-1950s) that contains some beautiful photos of the equiment they produced. I found the album in the trash.

Infrared image of a John Deere wheel loader, seen from behind. Very strong sunlight on this day allowed the capture of a broader color palette, strong contrast, and a dark sky.
