Van Gogh: Poets and Lovers

Be blown away by Van Gogh’s most spectacular paintings in our once-in-a-century exhibition.
Walk with a pair of lovers beneath a starry night. Look up at swirling clouds and cypress trees swaying in the wind. Stay a little while in Van Gogh’s favourite park, the ‘Poet’s Garden’, or under a shady tree in Saint-Rémy.
We’re bringing together your most loved of Van Gogh’s paintings from across the globe, some of which are rarely seen in public. They will be paired together with his extraordinary drawings.
Over just two years in the south of France, Van Gogh revolutionised his style in a symphony of poetic colour and texture. He was inspired by poets, writers and artists. We look at this time in Arles and Saint-Rémy as a decisive period in his career. His desire to tell stories produced a landscape of poetic imagination and romantic love on an ambitious scale.

Architectural elements of Florence were the source of inspiration for the Florentine Console. Renaissance architecture was the vision of Filippo Brunelleschi, whose ability to innovate and interpret Renaissance ideals in architecture made him a legend in his lifetime. He is responsible for the designs of the early Renaissance, which laid the foundation for the way architecture would develop in the future. His most famous design is the the dome of Santa Maria del Fiore which was built in 1300. One of the objectives of the Renaissance was to reinvent the ingenuity of Greek and Roman art from 1500 years before. Brunelleschi traveled to Rome and meticulously studied Roman architecture. His designs broke away from the medieval traditions of pointed arches, vaulting, and the use of gold and mosaics. Instead, he used simple classical designs based on basic geometric shapes. His work and influence can be seen all over Florence. Award-winning designer, Shah Gilani, ASFD, was inspired by these architectural gems of Florence when he designed the Florentine Console. The base of the table was designed to be used with a glass top and a glass shelf. Robust metal construction allows it to support the heavy table top and shelf without shaking. With its supreme elegance, it makes an exceptional console table for upscale residential and hospitality interiors. Four polished bronze glides are provided which also serve as levelers – a useful feature when the floor is uneven. Custom sizing is available. The table base is offered in a variety of finishes and accents.

my dad suggested that i travel at 70 mph. ok, dad.
Seeing as Sega will never make another console and me being a mega sega fan I decided to build one labled the Sega Neptune the console that never was.

This piece of furniture was purchased when Jeannine and I first moved here...it was poorly white washed and a steal at 200$. The legs were never fully finished and the inside was still kind of an icky walnut color. I stripped it, and put an electrical hand sander to it i can't say how many times....it took over a month of daily labor to get it to this. then I opted to two tone stain it and give it a nice masculine deco look. I love it!
