The console survived the trip and now resides in his room. He's happy to finally have one of these.

GONE-The top looks just wonderful--the combination between the raw wood and the distressed metal with screws is beautifully done.

A rather interesting perspective on the console of the Hill Organ at St. John's Cathedral, Limerick, Ireland.

When Gretchen Wilsons crew loaded this piece of work into the venue, I was told that it was a $ 300,000 audio console. Let me see....audio console or a house....hmmm, let me think about that for a minute. I'm going for the house!

Looks like I've been getting a little carried away with the fisheye lately!

Spotted at an antique dealer in Bulacan.

A few years ago my friend Sara found out that an old professional audio console was being junked (think of any footage you've seen of music being produced with the big huge panels with dials, sliders, and blinking lights). I had friends join me at the recycler to try to figure out how utterly ridiculous it would be to transport this huge behemoth into my studio apartment. Instead, I ending up stripping off a bunch of interesting parts, as it was deemed utterly ridiculous.

After the fact, I've now heard interviews with people talking about running their audio through the filters on these consoles. The filter itself could have been earning $100 or more an hour if I had known to grab that part.

I've been slowly trying to figure out how to interface with these parts so I can use them as a big midi controller.

The organ's console was hand-carved in oak, using photos to match the original design.

Art Deco was an influential visual arts design style that first appeared in France just before World War I and began flourishing internationally from the 1920s thru the 40s. It took its name from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts) held in Paris in 1925. It is an eclectic style that combines traditional craft motifs with Machine Age imagery and materials. The style is often characterized by rich colors and bold geometric shapes. The Art Deco movement flourished during the interwar years when rapid industrialization was transforming culture. One of its major attributes was an embrace of technology. It has been defined as an assertively modern style that emphasizes symmetry rather than asymmetry, and the rectilinear rather than the curvilinear. During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. With this historical backdrop in view, award-winning designer Shah Gilani, ASFD, designed the Art Deco Console for use in upscale residential and hospitality interiors. Robust metal construction of the table base allows it to support a heavy top and shelf without shaking. Four polished bronze glides are provided which also serve as levelers – a useful feature when the floor is uneven. A variety of finishes and accents are offered. Custom sizing is available.

The view from the help desk before we moved it. A dim room with three monitors on one PC, a fourth monitor on the left that remote-controls another PC when you move the mouse over onto it, and a Mac behind. Usually someone's laptop behind or just to the right to be worked on too.
