12:00 PM "Home is behind, the world ahead,

And there are many paths to tread

Through shadows to the edge of night,

Until the stars are all alight.

Then world behind and home ahead,

We’ll wander back and home to bed.

Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,

Away shall fade! Away shall fade!"

Key paradigms, Mechanical/Newtonian/Cartesian world views must be complimented by Systemic/Complexity world views since Mechanical views of how society functions are based upon flawed assumptions, as revealed by Quantum Mechanics

Water — we’re always hearing that we should conserve it, but we turn on a tap and there it is. Here in Michigan, we’re surrounded by water. Yet, across the country, the state is known for its “water crisis.”

Visit the Gordon L. Grosscup Museum of Anthropology to view the exhibit “Water Futures in Michigan, Kenya and Oaxaca,” presenting water’s meaning, beauty and complexity as it relates to human beings around the globe. Developed as an interdisciplinary collaboration between Wayne State, the University of California Berkeley and We The People Of Detroit. It is on exhibit at the Museum of Anthropology through October 17th, 2025.

Located in Old Main, the Grosscup Museum gallery is free and open to the public.

Winter 2025 Gallery Hours are M-Th 10am-4pm and Friday 5pm-8pm.

I forget what this was originally, but I began using it as a symbol for my ideal level of complexity.

Complexity due to the amount of vine that have grown on the wall. i only focus on a small amount letting the viewer whine throw the vines and around the image.

I toyed with converting this shot to black & white, but I enjoyed the red and green too much to let it go! I think that the nature of the complimentary colors is part of what makes this image work as complex. Half of the dynamic is this color palette, and the other half is the contrast of textures as they weave in and out of one another. There’s a lot of play between the organic matter and the geometric lines of the building.

Straws differenet colors and lines keeps eyes looking from on side to the other.

An iterated map of the plane.

Serendipitously reminds one of

a sanddollar.

A Tangle of wood. Although fairly bland in color, in black and white the structure is highlighted. the chose of a vertical was obvious.
