Sony RX100 II

A wonderful little Yashica sent to us from a fellow blogger in Japan. She tested it and wrote about the results and posted some great pictures. It's a sleeper camera - The Contax T3 gets all the attention because of its Carl Zeiss Tessar 3.5/35mm lens (and probably should) - but first tests reveal a close second for a whole lot less money. Sony RX100 V

Here's my Canon Micro Compact. These were sold from 1984 and I found this in a thrift store in the UK for around $2. Came with a detachable side flash unit and a manual too.

It's small and easy to carry around but makes a fair amount of noise when the shutter fires and then autowinds the film to the next frame. Also the focus distance indicator shows you the focus after the shot was taken. Can't really see what the point is of that.

Sharp 35mm f/2.8 lens and took some crisp shots even in the NYC rain, see the set!

Picture taken by putting the camera on self-timer and propping it on a stationary object and letting it take its time with the shutter speed and aperture.

Voigtländer Vito B with 3.5/50 Color-Skopar

Variant with large Viewfinder, introduced 1957.

Prontor-SVS shutter with 1/300 s top speed and EV scale.

Update after one roll of film: Fine camera. Though the viewfinder is huge and the frame in it is clearly visible from many directions, I had some difficulties with framing my motif exactly. Because of the EV-scale the shutter speed ring and the f-stop ring are coupled, you have to press an unconvenient button if you want to move one of these seperately. The Color-Skopar is Voigtländer's version of the Zeiss Tessar, sharp and without noticeable quirks. With a Tessar an out of focus background can be somewhat disturbed sometimes, in my opinion the Skopar is smoother here.
