FCCT has partnered with urban food groups throughout Austin to build a community that supports making healthy, local food available to everyone, including partnering with Keep Austin Fed for a community egg drive on Tour day.
The tour will have 14 coops, including both backyard and community participants. In addition to schools, a community garden, and a farm, a Community First! Village is on the tour. Visitors will see how collaboration between volunteers, artists, and the homeless—and formerly homeless--work to create the Genesis Gardens program.
Maps are $12 each and can be shared with everyone in your touring party. Create your own custom tour, on two wheels or four. You can join the Bicycle Tour de Funky Chickens, hosted by the Austin Cycling Association. Rides for various levels and distances will be available.
This year’s tour benefits the New Farm Institute, which is “working to inspire a new generation of sustainable farmers in the urban fringe.” FCCT in partnership with the Austin Permaculture Guild will create a food forest for our beneficiary. The tour is an event of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Urban Poultry Association of Texas, Inc. and welcomes your donations.

I had a good time when I was a teenager because I liked to play with my big sister during the night. We would play at the river naked. I was the youngest child in our family. Things changed when I got married because it was my hardest time. I didn’t find happiness in my marriage. My husband and I had nine kids, three boys, and six girls. My four first-born kids were girls and my husband decide to marry other wives because he said he needed a boy. He now has three other wives in addition to myself. In total, he has four wives and 36 children. He used to come home once a year and I would spend the time taking care of the kids alone. The best advice I can give to the youth is to protect themselves from having sex before marriage. During my teenage years, when a young girl had sex with a man they would take her on an island that is located in Lake Kivu. With that punishment, we all feared to have sex and it was in our nature. When a man was dating you, you would be surprised to meet him during the marriage day. This custom protected us from becoming pregnant.

Un piccolo spunto di riflessione su cosa sia il Social Semantic Banner di Metafora. Nell'immagine si vede la home page di Metafora AD Network, con il banner in alto a destra, con alcune parti evidenziate ed inserite in un rettangolo rosso. Sono le parti che al momento sfruttano la tecnologia RDFa, qualcosa che è stato adottato da Google dalla settimana scorsa [0] e che Metafora ha iniziato ad usare dal dicembre 2008. [1] Una cosa da tecnici, in realtà, ma utile da comprendere nelle sue implicazioni di utilizzo per tutti quanti.
Il Semantic Social Banner è composto da tre parti: una firma che identifica a chi appartiene quel banner, posta in alto, sopra l'immagine della creatività, la creatività vera e propria del banner tradizionale, e il link all'endorsement, la referenza e la review che chi ha firmato il banner ne completa la funzione. Se per una persona questi tre elementi, una volta inquadrati in questo schema, sono chiari, non lo sono assolutamente per una macchina, un programma, un software. E quindi ancora meno per i motori di ricerca, tra le altre cose.
E' qui che interviene RDFa: è un modo di parlare dei dati, e di dare loro un minimo di contesto, comprensibile sia all'uomo che alla macchina. [3]
In questa immagine si nota quello che vede un po' la macchina, giusto per dare un primo tassello su questo mondo ai più sconosciuto.
Il rettangolo in alto posto sulla firma del banner, è proprio l'informazione RDFa che permette l'attribuzione del banner ad una specifica identità, quella di Metafora. Si riesce a tracciare in tal modo la fonte, il chi dice una cosa.In questo caso a quale circuito appartiene il banner mostrato. L'identità come prima base per costruire la fiducia.
Nel nostro caso, essendo già posizionati nel sito di Metafora, non serve dire chi sta dicendo qualcosa, ma si puo' prendere l'occasione per specificare cos'è Metafora:
Metafora AD Network è un UserGroup.
Per le macchine è utile capire che il sito Metafora.it sia una somma di voci e di opinioni, raccolte nell'endorsement del banner. Questo perchè, in un secondo tempo, si possono definire gli appartenenti a tale Network, in forma non solo comprensibile quindi alle persone che guardino una pagina web e capiscano il valore di una firma posta accanto ad un banner. Essere utili e trovabili è fondamentale in un mondo immerso in sempre più informazioni.
Tutto questo in nome del futuro del Web e di come il Web possa aiutare a filtrare informazioni, opinioni, in forme sempre più fidate e pertinenti, tenendo sempre presente che è la Comunità intera a trarne vantaggio.

323/365 - "Chad's Half Marathon"
Congratulations to my brother Chad for finishing the Community First Fox Cities Half Marathon. Chad took 10th place out of 2773 runners, 971 males. TENTH PLACE! His chip time was 1:19:36 with an average pace of 6:07 per mile! Chad trained hard for this race, beating last year's time by 7 minutes and 29 places. I'm so very proud of my younger brother! Congrats to all the runners who competed today!
