One of my favorite artists on the internet emailed me out of the blue and suggested the two of us do a collab, and I said yes yes yes of course, and so I made this, which is my uncolored half of the collab. She's going to draw and color the other half, and then I'll color my half following her palette, and it's going to be so exciting!! Except for the part where I kind of look like a poor man's Jillian Tamaki.

For the poem that hannahbeck8 wrote:

What was it that her aunt always used to say when they walked over sidewalks together, her tiny hand clasped in her aunt’s larger hand like a small cracked seashell stacked within the smooth, cool irridescence of a larger shell? If they came to a small post, trash can, fire hydrant, or other small obstacle her aunt kept her hand clasped calmly, coolly, sweetly in hers, it was like her whole body was held, while swinging their arms over whatever was between them, her aunt smiling down at her - “peanut butter and jelly, bread and butter, two things that go together.”

She stands on the sidewalk now, alone, held by nothing, mutters under her breath: “days and nights, waiting and worrying, sex and secrets, home and...” Sometimes she feels like if only someone would take her cold, dry seashell hand and swing their arms together in one joyous motion, she would be able to breathe under all this water, milky and oppressive, swirling over her face as though it would clear but it does not. She thinks of drowning, but in the stark emptiness of the air, how lovely it would be, to feel only absence on her skin — open her mouth and feel nothing rush to fill it. She imagines herself gazing up at the someone beside her, the sun in her eyes, warm and white in the silent air, she smiles, swings their clasped hands easily over the object in their path -- “you and me.”

Ecostone - Veneer Metal - 2023

This sculpture by Vuyo Oyiya in collaboration with Kunye Collab, serves as a poignant reminder of our innate divinity. The Crown Chakra is the seat of our soul, the centre of our spiritual selves, and the source of our connection to the divine. As women, we embody the art of kindness, and we are the embodiment of just beautiful souls in human form. This sculpture serves as a powerful reminder to embrace our spiritual essence, to rise above earthly limitations, and to recognize the divine power that resides within each of us.

Let us celebrate not only the beauty and strength that we possess as individuals but also the unity and sisterhood that connect us all. Together, we can overcome adversity, tap into the boundless love and wisdom of the universe, and radiate the light of our divine selves to illuminate the world. The time has come for us to stand tall, to wear our crowns with pride, and to share our unique gifts with the world.
