El colibrí de Cuvier[5] (Phaeochroa cuvierii), también denominado ala de sable verde, colibrí pechiescamado, colibrí pecho escamoso, fandanguero pechiescamoso o fandanguero pecho escamoso, es una especie de ave apodiforme de la familia Trochilidae —los colibríes—, la única perteneciente al género monotípico Phaeochroa, anteriormente situada en el género Campylopterus. Es nativa de México, América Central y extremo norte de América del Sur.

Amazing how little they are, how brilliant (iridescent) colors they can have, how fast they move around and how they manage to hover in front of flowers when absorbing the nectar!

Actually I am sure this is a Little Black Cormorant but I could not find any information on the blue skin under its beak. I suppose this is a breeding bird but why none of the books or websites I consulted mentions this blue colour as a breeding sign?

I posted this question on Australian Bird Identification FB page yesterday but no comments so far. I wonder if somebody please may shed more light on this blue colouring?

Or is this something that every Australian child knows and I shouldn't be asking? (-;

These little guys were fascinating.... this one was the size of my little finger.

"Large bee-fly" should be the english name.

Looks like a mixture of bumblebee and fly and behaves like a colibri / hummingbird. Hovers in front of blossoms and eats nectar with its long proboscis.
