También llamada cobra del bosque o cobra blanquinegra o por su nombre científico Naja Melanoleuca (que significa cobra blanca y negra). Estas cobras reciben el apodo de cobra negra gigante debido a que es la especie de cobra “verdadera” (del género Naja) más grande que existe. Recordamos que la cobra real no forma parte del género Naja que se atribuye a todas las cobras sino que dispone de un género en solitario. De aquí que se dice que las cobras del bosque son las más grandes del género que engloba todas las cobras (Naja).

Aunque son animales terrestres estas cobras son grandes nadadoras de modo que algunos las clasifican como semi-acuáticas, son las cobras más rápidas en agua. A pesar de que son grandes se mueven a gran velocidad y tienen mucha fuerza, pueden levantar dos tercios de su propio peso. A las cobras del bosque se les da muy bien escalar árboles donde refugiarse. La cobra negra es un animal diurno aunque tienen cierta actividad durante la noche.

The AC Cobra, sold as the Shelby Cobra in the United States, is an Anglo-American sports car with a Ford V8 engine, produced intermittently in both the UK and the US since 1962.

It has been a pretty good year for large dragonflies, especially clubtails, after three bad drought-driven years. I have been slow in posting them.

COBRA or Cobra, often stylized as CoBrA, was an European avant-garde art group active from 1948 to 1951. The name was coined in 1948 by Christian Dotremont from the initials of the members' home countries' capital cities: Copenhagen (Co), Brussels (Br), Amsterdam (A).
