Happy Bench Monday!!

I seem to have a thing about bait houses..;) They are just so photographic with all those flags flying and boats tied up along side them. This may be the last of them..;( That is, until I go back to the coast.

Did the Pecan Street Festival again today. It's wasn't so hot like it has been, which made it more bearable.

Watching the moon..:) Never know, I may not be around in 2033

I don't know if I would go out in the bay on either one of these boats..;) The weather is still ugly. Guess it is everywhere.

Night shot of Corpus Christi marina. I shot this from the patio of my hotel room.

The government built 24 concrete ships during World War 1. The problem with concrete ships is concrete can't be repaired. An expensive lesson. The coast guard put this one in Galveston to mark the channel. It's no longer needed so it was put up for sale..) Only the government would think someone would buy it. Someone was actually living on it for a while. Anyway, it's still sitting there and the Coast Guard is trying to figure out what to do with it. They need to find something else to worry about. It's a tourist attraction now, plus the fisherman love fishing around it. Oh, the sale price is now at one dollar..;)

SS Selma

Called the “Flagship of Texas,” the Selma was an oil tanker that hit a jetty off the coast of Tampico, Florida. The government sent Selma to Galveston for repairs, but the shipwrights had no experience with concrete. She was taken to Pelican Island, Texa in 1922, where she sits today.

All's peaceful as the sun sets in the west

Tomorrow is going to be warm with rain. I'm getting just a little tired of the rain.

I finally got my car fixed after hitting that deer. I ordered the parts on line and one of my neighbors installed them. All in all, it cost me about 400 hundred bucks..;(

I had some fun with this one and learned some Photoshop tricks while I was doing it. As soon as I get another boarder staying here I'm going back to the coast. Just seems like there's just a lot of cool adjustments I can do to coastal shots.

HSS!!

I kinda like this shot, so I may post it again later in the week. It wasn't really a night shot, but with the magic of Topaz, it is now..;)

Most of the rain missed me. The power did go off. I woke up wondering why I was hot and than I realized I couldn't see anything. It was a little nerve racking. The weather man says we're getting more tonight. Yikes. I'm suppose to go hiking on Monday. We'll see if that happens.

I stayed with the fog for one more image ..;) I do like the way it came out. Simple and relaxing.

Happy Sunday. Hope everyone in the Northeast is doing alright with that nasty weather. I saw a few pictures posted on Flickr. It looks really ugly

This project turned into a lot of work. As always, it's not just like I wanted but it's close enough..;) We'er still hiding in our houses, well most of us anyway. I'm really hungry for some Mexican food. Guess I'll just have to buy a frozen dinner and heat it up. I've been doing some baking. My banana nut cupcakes are a hit. The chocolate chip cookies didn't come out so well..;)

Happy Slider Sunday!

HSS!

Not much of a slide. I just dropped the sunset behind the bait house. This is still Rock Port, Texas. Just trying to get my monies worst out of my little vacation..;) Going kayaking in the morning around 9am. Because of the heat, I would go earlier but the place doesn't open until 9.

YORKSHIRE

These are a few images of a holiday we had sometime ago and very enjoyable it was too..

I am recovering from an operation that had a cancer removed hence the reason for not being online lately. Hopefully I can do all my catching up over the next week or two.

We did however manage to get away to my Daughters for Christmas just before the op and had a really great time.

It goes without saying that I wish all that know me and all who have visited, the very best of health and a safe 2023.

Kind regards Patrick

This is another one that I just got tired of messing with. However, I kinda like it so I may re-do it later when I have more time to mess with it.

Hope everyone is having a great week

I did a version of this image some time back but I watch a video on You Tube the other day on new ways to edit in Photoshop and started playing with this one. They have a replace sky setting now that works really good, well not so much on this one but on some others I tried it on. But some of the other new features worked really well.

I made most of the image with the new Beta Photo Shop. If you haven't tried it yet you might want to. It's fun to play with.

Happy Hump Day

When I got off the ferry, going to that restaurant that was closed, I spotted this light house. Of course I pulled over..:) We don't have lighthouses in the Texas hill country. This one may not look just like this..;)

Anyway, I took a little more time with this one. It might be a wall hanger..;)

The HOA of my Townhouse community voted me bookkeeper. I'm such a terrible organizer, I don't know if I'm going to be very good at it, but no one else would take the job, so I was like, OK, I'll do it.

Happy Slider Sunday

I'm having fun with these compositions. I feel like doing them is going to make me think about angles and positions when I'm taking a shot.

Hope your weekend is going well.

I was surprise to see this guy fishing for shrimp so close to the bank. I just didn't realize shrimp live in shallow water too. Admittedly, I don't know how deep the water is right there..;) Must be deep enough..;)

Don't really remember where I shot this. We were traveling from one town to another and it was one of those, let me make the block and go back and take that shot.

Hopefully, all the freezing weather is over for us. My garden didn't fair to well. Even the plants that are suppose to be year around seem to be struggling.

Happy Slider Sunday

I've only been posted one a week because my day off is Friday & Saturday. I get my errands done on Friday and then Saturday I put something together.

I still try to look at your images during the week.

While taking a tour of the harbor in Galveston, we went past this fish processing plant. The Pelican's on the roof sorta give it away..;) Anyway, I thought it was a funny shot. The guy driving the boat apparently new someone there and he came to the door and held up the catch of the day.

I finally finished my Chemo and Radiation. So now I'm guessing it's wait and see. I feel like I'm having some withdraws from the medication that I stopped taking, that the doctor assured me I wouldn't have. Still can't swallow anything. I'll be so happy when this is all behind me.

I had a lot of fun playing with this one. The more I look at it the better I like it..:) But, maybe that's because I spent so much time with it. This is Corpus Christi, TX again and the sun really does rise about there in the morning, so it's not too made up..;)

What a fitting name for a sailboat. I looked up the full definition: A piece of music sung or played in the open air, typically by a man at night under the window of his lover. I really loved the time I spent on my sailboat. I don't have one anymore but I think about it often.

Getting close to Fall. I'm ready for some cooler weather, just as long as it doesn't get crazy cold.

Happy Weekend everyone

A typical morning along the Texas Coast. Got lucky with the clouds on this one.

Happy Weekend All

There is a road that runs along the harbor at the bottom image. Just setting the stage.;) And, just past the road is a hill. So, I'm on top of the hill with my tripod set up to get the best shot I can and I see this pickup truck driving by. The truck stops and the guy gets out and starts climbing the hill. I'm thinking, I hope he doesn't need directions because I'm a tourist as well. He gets to the top of the hill and introduces him and tells me he's been in town for a week and hasn't hardly caught any fish...lol..Who does that..;) The guy never stopped talking. I took all my shots and started loading up my gear. As I'm driving away, he's still talking..:)

Some people thought that I was serious when I said somebody needs to fix this weather. I fully realize there aren't enough people wanting to change things and that weather changes are just going to get more extreme.

Anyway, I just got over Covid. I had all my shots so it was nothing like you see on TV. The first night was the worst. Well, that night and all day. Pretty much just stayed in bed. I was so happy when I finally tested negative. It did leave me with an annoying cough.

I haven't been in here much because I've been wallowing in self pity. I was just diagnosed with cancer and it's located in my neck. The doctor is pretty sure it's curable and he has a 5 year plan. In the mean time lots can happen. I'll probably lose about 30 lbs, could lose most of my teeth and could lose the ability to talk. I'll be starting radiation and chemo later this month. It still hasn't completely sunk in and I'm still having trouble talking about it. I'll still be looking at your work but I just may not be contributing as much

We are really going through some different times. I can't help but wonder how we'll come out on the other side. My mother went through the depression, and we were never able to throw something away. At my grandfathers farm, if we took a building apart we had to straighten the nails out.

So, I'm wondering, we will forever be afraid to get close to someone. We will always collect toilet paper..;)

This place may or may not look just like this..;) I tried flipping the image and it oddly enough, looked better, but the words were backwards so I flipped it back. Really ugly day here. Grey skys and light rain all day.

Happy Weekend Everyone

Happy Slider Sunday

This was such a peaceful moment. Early morning, to me, is the best time of day. I don't know why but I really enjoy watching the morning come alive. And, it's so peaceful. Too early for the traffic noise of people going to work. Not a lot of people around to ruin the shot..;)

I'm back from the coast. I could easily live down there.

I couldn't believe my luck spotting this on the way back to my room. So I made a mental note to come back in the morning and get the shot. I was pretty lucky weather wise the whole 3 days. I did have one morning where I was all set up with my tripod waiting for the sunrise and a big black cloud came across the horizon..;( and then, the following evening I was set up for a sunset shot and a big grey cloud blocked the sunset..:( Oh well, not like there will never be another..;)

Happy week everyone

Happy Fence Friday

This is where the ferries sleep ..;)

I took this in Port Aransas. They have a bridge as well but it's just cooler to ride the ferry over. This port definitely is on the vacation tour.

HFF!!!

Just so everyone knows, I've turned down the treatment. I'm 74 and live by myself in the country. I just couldn't see doing that to my body when I may not have that much time left anyway. Tomorrow I have a meeting with a surgeon to talk about removing the cancer. I'll probably still have some down time but I'm more comfortable with the possibilities and the outcome.

I took all these shots so I have to use them..;) I enjoyed myself while on this mini vacation that I decided it would be great to have another house on the coast. Well, the realtor gave me a heads up. She said," You can't be just looking. You have to get pre-qualified and ready to write the check." I'm afraid I'm going to have to put living at the coast on the back burner. I just not able to invest the amount of time it would take to find the right place.

On the bright side, I get my 2nd shot this week. Has anyone else had there 2nd shot. Just wondering if it's any different then the first one.

I had a little fun with this one. I'm just barely am getting this one up for Slider Sunday. I started working on it early but then I just kept getting interrupted.

Happy Week Everyone

Happy Slider Sunday

I had such a great time in Galveston that I've already booked my hotel room for my November vacation. It would be really great if any of you want to come with me. Off season prices..;)

I keep trying to do different looks to force me to try different things. But, I feel like I'm starting to get fixated on these shrimp boats and sunrises.

I thought my medical deal was on Thursday but It's on Friday. Ugh, one more day to think about it.

Seems strange to be running the air conditioner in February.

I was going to use this for slider Sunday, but I decided I liked it like this. It seems so fragile as is. I did use a little Topaz to add just the right look.

Happy Weekend All

It's really for Slider Sunday but I'm so bored, I decided to post it now. Can't go out because the wind is gusting at 40 to 50 miles an hour and I've pretty much done everything I can do around the house. Put the last load of clothes in the dryer ..;)

I played around with this so much in Photoshot and made the file so large, I couldn't load it up in Topaz. So, I just went back to Photoshop and finished it up. I wasn't going to do a Slider this Sunday but then I decided, why not ..:)

I wonder if we could petition Flickr to bring back the people link? People that load 3 or more images a day really make the new system difficult

Hope the new week goes well for you

I had a lot of noise in this shot, which surprise me because I had it on 100 ISO. I got most of it out with Topaz.

I'm thinking about heading back to the coast next week. I'm getting an extra day off for Veteran's Day.

Can you believe the Christmas ads have already started on TV. So crazy.

I know it's early but I am bored ..:)

Monday I had to go to the hospital so markers could be installed on my Prostrate for the radiation treatments. Luckily, they put me under. However, it still hurts today and I wasn't expecting that. I thought it was just a simple thing. Guess not. Anyway, in a couple of weeks I'll start the radiation treatment to kill the Prostrate cancer. And, that should fix the last of my medical issues.

The processing on this one became a much bigger project then I anticipated so I just gave it a promise. The promise was, I'll do better next time ..:) I had fun doing it and that's all that really matters in the end

Most of the snow has melted. A lot of my neighbors don't have water. Some were gathering snow from the drifts and melting it to get water. I'm still having to boil the water before using it. The weather's warming up. The Internet is coming in and out and there still isn't a lot of food or bottled water in the grocery stores. The roads are clear, only because the sun melted the ice and snow because we don't have snow plows.

Happy to see February get here. That means Winter is almost over..;) March is usually windy but doable. The hotel prices go up at the coast starting tomorrow, soooooo no more trips to the coast for a while..;(

Happy Week Everyone

Pier 21 in Galveston is the gift that keeps giving..;) Here's some info on the statue

"High Tide" depicts a young man reaching up to feed seagulls. This bronze statue by Charles Parks, installed in 1992, is the third casting of a 1985 work from the Laran Bronze Foundry in Chester, PA.

I really love the coast. I wonder if I would love it as much if I lived there. I would be worried about living in Galveston. It gets hit with a lot with Hurricane's. However, when I was there I couldn't really see a lot of damage.
