A view of the magnificent Cornish coastline from above Port Quin a beautiful little village on the North Cornwall coast. In the middle distance is the well preserved Doyden Castle, located near Port Quin, about 200 miles southwest of London, is an early 19th-century castle, originally built as a secret spot for drinking and gambling so legend has it !!

A river of sun turned dark grey clouds white. This is a setting of ice capped hills framed by black clouds and the dark sea in the high Canadian arctic near Pond Inlet.

Cascais is a coastal resort town in Portugal, just west of Lisbon. It’s known for its sandy beaches and busy marina. The old town is home to the medieval Nossa Senhora da Luz Fort and the Citadel Palace, a former royal retreat. Nearby is the whitewashed Nossa Senhora da Assunção church, with glazed azulejo tiles. Paula Rego House of Stories shows the Portuguese artist’s paintings in a modern building.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse was built in 1871 to guide ships on the Pacific coast of California, and it is still an active Coast Guard aid to navigation. This is the tallest lighthouse on the west coast of the US.

This trail goes down to the beach for a nice 1-hour hike. The return trip upwards is a little strenuous! There is no snow here in the winter near sea level and the ferns stay green all through the winter. But, especially this year, there is a lot of RAIN! It keeps the air so fresh and clear and smelling of living forest!

From the looks of the roof, this weathered old barn is still serving its purpose for this farm near San Gregorio CA. In the moist coastal climate there is no way to prevent untreated wood from weathering in this manner. I'm quite grateful for that--it makes for a photo-rich environment.

I like how you can tell which way, and how strong the wind normally is at a location by the trees. this one is a west coast tree, and looks like it's barely hanging onto it's leaves.
One of my older shots from a few years ago, this is a place called Pett Levels on the Sussex coastline the beach runs for about 7 miles and is full of very old wooden groynes which protects the beach from erosion, some stand about 7 feet high and other like these only about a foot or so!
