Camera club evening, photographing the Liverpool waterfront and HMS Prince of Wales

Taken on a NOPS indoor bug shoot. Was very lucky to get away with the extremely slow shutter speed because the insect was quite active most of the time. E-M1/60mm.

Crosby Beach is part of the Merseyside coastline north of Liverpool in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton, England

Hale Lighthouse that you see standing today dates

from 1906. It replaced a shorter tower built seventy

years earlier around 1838. The tower is 45ft high,

even with it being so small the lamp's beam could

be seen from as far away as forty miles.

 

The lighthouse was last used in 1958 when it was

decomissioned. The main lamp/light now stands in The -

Merseyside Mariitime museum in Liverpool, located a the

Albert dock.

 

The Lighthouse is situated on the banks of the River -

Mersey, and can be seen for many miles.

Walkers, Ramblers and tourists to Hale Village often make

a beeline for the shore where the lighthouse now is.

It sits pround on the sandstone cliffs, and the whitewashed

needle pin tower points sky high'

Crepidotus variabilis, commonly known as the Variable Oysterling, is a small, common, saprophytic fungus found in woodlands. It is not recommended for consumption.

New Brighton Lighthouse (also known as Perch Rock Lighthouse and called Black Rock Lighthouse in the 19th century) is a decommissioned lighthouse situated at the confluence of the River Mersey and Liverpool Bay on an outcrop off New Brighton known locally as Perch Rock.

Crepidotus variabilis is a species of saprophytic fungi in the family Crepidotaceae. It is commonly known as a variable oysterling in the United Kingdom and is seen there in autumn. May occur solitary, but more often in small scattered groups from summer to autumn on twigs and other woody debris of broad-leaved trees.
