小石头俱乐部3.0: The client’s priority was to maximize the natural light in their new live/work house in Montreal’s Mile-Ex district. This was made challenging by the east-west orientation of the infill lot. However, our design fills even the core of the house with light through the implementation of a 2 storey light-well which runs the length of the southern side of the house. Additional light is reflected into this light-well by the client’s office space – a white volume that sits atop the northern edge light-well. Spaces on the second storey also benefit from the light well’s luminosity; the walls adjacent to it are fully glazed and a floor to ceiling piece of frosted glass brings a very soft light into the bathroom.The expressive back facade of the house is defined by the angular geometry of the floating steel box. The front facade, however, is composed primarily of bricks to conform with the heritage character of the neighbourhood. Two disjuncted apertures break up the brick façade and are lined in aluminum. As only one side of the brick was glazed, a random mix of forward and backward facing bricks were laid to create a more dynamic façade. I have taken a number of photographs of the seed pods on the canna lilly plant in my client's yard, but have found most of them lacking in any artistic value. This particular part of one of the pods caught my eye as just enough of the eveing light creates a soft glow.

a small strand of Spanish Moss hanging from one of my client's shrubs, near the edge of the golf course, in partial shade on June 14, 2009. (I sometimes brush up against these at night and makes me think I have walked into a spider web or an insect has landed on my cheek!)
Our client’s family had just moved into this seventies split level villa. The modernist rigour of the existing plan needing softening and warming up without losing the light airiness of the double height spaces and large windows.
We introduced floating oak cabinetry and soft limestone surfaces to accommodate the books, cds and entertainment systems that go hand in hand with family life. The stone and pebble fireplace is the warm focal point.
The lofty mezzanine was opened up with a glass balustrade and a quiet but connected home office was created for out of hours working.
To celebrate my client's success I took us all to BOA Steakhouse on Sunset Blvd in West Hollywood for dinner.
This was a small table spread for a client's wedding. Her colors were bright pink and blue and I tried to use those in the most subtle way in this table.
Cupcakes are displayed on top of unbleached organic sugar (not sand) :-) The shells on the cake are made from sugarpaste. The cake is a Vanilla Bean Cake with Peach Italian Meringue Buttercream. The cake is naturally sandy color due to the cooked blended peaches added to the buttercream. Topper and cutting set provided by bride. Thank you mom for your help with this!
My pictures are horrible, I know, but my new flash and lens did not come in in time, so I am stuck with these :-(

The wraps are off the new Ferrari One-Off designed to a client’s specifications
The SP-8 is an uncompromising thoroughbred roadster crafted on the F8 Spider architecture

Maranello, 24 October 2023 – Ferrari today unveiled the latest addition to its One-Off series, the Ferrari SP-8. Part of the marque’s Special Projects programme and designed by the Flavio Manzoni-headed Ferrari Styling Centre, it is a mid-rear-engined V8 based on the F8 Spider from which it inherits its layout, chassis and engine. The SP-8 one-off joins the hallowed ranks of the most exclusive segment in the Ferrari range, unique cars crafted around individual clients’ specifications, with the result that they embody the very pinnacle of Prancing Horse customisation.
The car’s name celebrates its 3.9-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, one of the most critically-acclaimed power units in history and the winner of the prestigious Engine of the Year (IEOTY) award on four consecutive occasions. As the client that commissioned the SP-8 hails from Taiwan, the number 8 is also significant as it considered extremely lucky in Chinese culture, traditionally auguring success, good fortune and personal achievement.
The SP-8’s most unique feature is the fact that it has no roof, making it a thoroughbred two-seater roadster in every respect, underscoring its sporty character and the instantly exhilarating visual and en plein air driving experience it delivers. This solution demanded extensive refining of its aerodynamics through a combination of CFD simulations, wind tunnel testing and track testing to guarantee a standard of acoustic comfort and wind feeling comparable to the car that inspired it.
The car’s main styling theme centres around the way in which its volumes crossover and fuse into one another: the unpainted carbon-fibre front wraps around to the tail, creating a two-tone effect that creates a powerful contrast in terms of both colour and materials. The elimination of the retractable hard top allowed the designers to radically restyle the entire tail section, giving it a full volume with a taut belt line. The car’s volume is divided into two parts which are connected by a functional central area in matte black that includes the side air intakes with separate ducts for the intercoolers and engine. The upper section of this band incorporates a vent for the engine compartment with longitudinal elements that reference the lateral strakes typical of Ferraris of the past.

A client's 4mos old daughter, Ava. Gorgeous blue eyes and such a wonderful baby girl I'm told (sleeps through an 8hr night!) My first time shooting a baby(jeez, that sounds wrong. You know what I mean). I didn't think I'd really enjoy taking pics of a child but when I look back through the images, I can't help but smile. New life is amazing!!
