Our client's backyard transformation. We took a problem of flooding and poor drainage and turned it into a function -- with a rainwater harvesting rain pond that will be growing aronia, elderberries, willows and cat tails. We also created large berms to direct water flow and store it for the fruit trees we will plant in the spring. Next up is a full on forest garden, perennial vegetables, rainwater cisterns, and a plethora of fruiting trees and shrubs
Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to design and build a landscaped garden for a space in Leytonstone, London E11. Here are the details of the project
BRIEF:
This plot was a long urban garden and was almost completely bare, but for two large, established trees. The client was attempting to construct a pond in the near right corner using green slate boulders as decoration, and requested that this should be included in the design.
The interior of the house had a modern, contemporary feel fused with Victorian architecture. As the patio doors lead directly from the kitchen/diner into the garden, the garden becomes very much an extension of the house – as such the style of the interiorwas of particular consideration in the design the exterior space
SOLUTION:
The final design created a low maintenance garden with a simple and contemporary feel. The area directly behind the house was laid with decking, running half way down the left side of the space. New wooden fences, to replace the existing worn out wire fences, were erected down the right of the garden, onto which a selection of clematis and everlasting sweet peas were trained.
The main area of the garden consisted of a tapered, oval shaped lawn, encircled by a raised bed following the same shape as the lawn. A smaller, tapered oval raised bed in the middle of the lawn served to slightly mask the bottom of the garden, breaking up the space and helping to create a sense of intrigue.
The simplicity of the borders was echoed in the planting, which consisted of white flowers and green foliage. Cool, crisp and elegant, a white planting scheme provides an air of harmony and tranquillity, and is well suited to the style of the garden and the interior of the house. An area devoted to graceful architectural ferns helped to accentuate the simplicity
of the space and serves to provide a stunning and effective display throughout the year.
Re-designing the layout of the client’s existing pond, using state boulders together with a powerful pump to produce an effective waterfall, helped to create a striking water feature. The pond and surrounding area was given life with the addition of water lilies and other aquatic and semi-aquatic plants. A bowed Cedrus libani (ssp.atlantica) ‘Glauca’, trailing branches in the water, presented the final flourish to the space.
TESTIMONIAL:
“Katrina and her team worked extremely hard and long hours to complete the garden quickly and with minimum disruption to our home. Considering that we have no access other than through the entire house, there was almost no disruption to our lives.
Watching the garden grow from its original design and come to life was amazing. It exceeded our expectations completely, and the aftercare pack and service offered by Earth Designs was brilliant.
We have no hesitation in recommending Earth Designs to any of our friends, who have also been amazed with our fantastic new garden - of course we have been showing it off at every sunny opportunity. Thanks to Katrina and her team at Earth Designs for such a fantastic design, utilising the space brilliantly and creating an outside space that we are extremely proud of.”

So here's how it went.
I left a client's place, saw this, decided to shoot.
Dropped briefcase, dragged camera out of pants pocket, wind shutter.
Extend lens, remove cap (don't ask) set aperture to f8, shutter to 200 cuz I just figgered it would work.
Raise, frame and shoot the 2 door version of the first car I remember my parents owning, just as the light changed.
Not a great shot, but I'm glad to have got it. Aren't old cameras fun?
General shot of a unique bike, with the client's birth year (69) placed in each side of it. This time, we didn't paint most of the bike because that metal look gave the essence of what Speedster is.

This is my Client's newest addition to the family. He's mostly Pekingese and part Chihuahua. I find him simply precious!

This was a small table spread for a client's wedding. Her colors were bright pink and blue and I tried to use those in the most subtle way in this table.
Cupcakes are displayed on top of unbleached organic sugar (not sand) :-) The shells on the cake are made from sugarpaste. The cake is a Vanilla Bean Cake with Peach Italian Meringue Buttercream. The cake is naturally sandy color due to the cooked blended peaches added to the buttercream. Topper and cutting set provided by bride. Thank you mom for your help with this!
My pictures are horrible, I know, but my new flash and lens did not come in in time, so I am stuck with these :-(

Vince and I were back in the Kelly Ramsey Tower (still under construction), to finish hanging a client's corporate art collection in their new offices.
After removing a client's old logo, we discovered fading and holes that we were unable to paint over. As a solution we installed architectural vinyl before installing their new dimensional logo.
Went to a new client's house last night and was completely stunned when I saw a momma bobcat and her cub leisurely cruising their BACK YARD! Their home is in a heavily populated neighborhood in the middle of the city...
I ran for the camera and barely caught them (in bad lighting through the window) before they slipped under the fence and went on their way into the NEXT back yard!
Strange but true...
On the way to a client's office when I caught this lady on the opposite platform. It's early in the morning. Guess she's either on night shift and going home or she's conserving her energy for full day's work ahead.
Evaluating your client's body proportions are an important part of the process to learning what to emphasize and to counter on your future client's bodies. Marcela measures Delphine's body proportions as the consultant executing a style evaluation.
A surprise for a client's fiance. We incorporated tiny diamonds from a ring given to her fiance by his mother who passed away. Sweet to have something from his mother in the wedding.
My client's office is one of the coolest buildings I've been in, however it also has a photo ban, but I couldn't resist snapping a pic of one of these meeting rooms they have. Looks very futuristic, as the rest of the interior - which unfortunately I'm unable to show.
PERFECT FOR:
• Studio walls
• Client’s homes
• Visual inspiration for product up-sells
• Wedding reception display (will not harm walls at a venue)
• Baby nursery
• Teen room/dorm room
• Resize for unlimited possibilities
• Semi-permanent marketing displays (reusable and will not harm walls)

Last weeks client(s). They were so much fun!! Brian(the youngest) had difficulty sitting up straight, so Alex?(the oldest) was constantly yelling at him, I saw this as funny and decided to yell at Brian also!! I started this last night, and finished this morning after a few hours of sleep. I started to lose my patience(you can tell, can't you?) as the image got bigger and bigger!! I was sitting on a background of 1.06GB before the final save! Lets just say my Toshiba laptop running Ubuntu had a hard time keeping up. That should be resolved once my dear Grandmother whom I love gets me that new iMac for Christmas!! I digress..
Thank you Hope for contacting me about the pictures, they were a blast!!!
