18K gold ring made from client's scrap gold jewelry. Raised the karat of the scrap and cast the ring with the Delft clay casting kit. Snake was made from heat hardened clay. Ring shank was carved from wax, cast separately and then attached. The gold was depletion gilded and was given a burnished, brushed finish. Ruby eyes. This was the client's design, having been born in the year of the snake, and was a ring she had dreamed of having for long time. Big ring! Final weight was about 24.7 grams.
Real brick from the client's old dismantled chimney were carefully veneered to be installed to the placard base.

Earth Designs Garden Design and Build were asked to created a landscape and propose garden design in Epping, Essex*. Here are the details of the project
The 'Water feature' Garden in Epping, Essex CM16
BRIEF:
This space was completely unusable as a result of a failed landscaping attempt by the previous occupants. Extensive ground work was necessary in order to level the space, including the redistribution of a very large mound of earth from the middle of the garden.
There was a summer house in the bottom right of the space, which was structurally sound but in need of cosmetic renovation - during construction it was decided that the building should be removed. The client's brief was fairly open and simple: to create a space for entertaining and social dining which compliments the decorative style of the house interior.
SOLUTION:
The design divides the garden into several distinct areas, helping to impart the illusion of space and create a sense of intrigue. The first area is open and floored with natural slate tile, multi hued with tones of dark and light grey and rust colours.
Leading from this area is a flush decking walkway, bridging a sunken black lined pool and flanked on both sides by railway sleeper raised beds mounted with gargoyle water spouts.
The sleeper beds continue down the space, flanking a large area of decking over which towers a bespoke wooden pergola, giving the space added height and a strong sense of drama. The pergola encloses a long, wide, heavy table and bench seating, constructed from sturdy sleepers to create an imposing focal point to the space. Overhead, a custom-made chandelier planted with ivy adds to the garden's medieval atmosphere.
A second decked walkway runs from the central decked area over a second sunken pool to a slate paved area at the bottom of the garden. The raised beds themselves are packed with evergreen shrubs and flowering perennials, with a dramatic and slightly gothic planting palette of black and white, softened with interspersed leafy greens.

This is our latest attempt; a toned-down (to our client's liking) and traditional scheme for this re-branding excercise.
We are having a mixed feeling about this new scheme, but this will do. Hopefully during detail designing phase, we could somehow alter and throw away the ugly signages and the inconsistent placement of the LCD screen, and have another go at 're-organizing' the counters. Perhaps sooner than later...

This is actually THREE different Soundwaves (as per the client's request for display purposes) smallest is the WST SW, the middle sized is a re-issue, the robot is the MP version.
Soundwave's always been one of my favorite G1 characters. To do him right, I started with an oversized G1 Soundwave (courtesy of kotoys.com)
Here is the list of modifications made to Soundwave:
...- His plastic's been completely filled with epoxy to give him extra stability and weight.
- The articulated hands (all fingers move independently) are courtesy of Zildjian.
- The head was custom built using a variety of parts. (cast & available on ebay soon)
- The visor is clear red plastic and the head contains a red LED light, which runs to it's power supply and on/off switch in Soundwave's back.
- Soundwave's chest was also completely rebuilt and re-invented.
- Although "oversized" the chest holsters "regular" sized G1 cassettes.
- All details/mods were done w/ styrene.
- His waist also extends (telescope style) giving him another inch of height.
- His knees now bend back.
- His feet pivot to lay flat
- Decals were custom built and applied, most graphics are hand painted
- Embossed Decepticon symbol on chest is hand cut from styrene

BRIEF:

Commission for a client's wife. Their daughter's name starts with the letter A. Glass and gold smalti, 1 inch, by Margaret Almon.
This item is an individual curler that is one of many used to wrap up a client's hair during the perming process. As seen, the cylinder has a hollow inside with two sets of four oval holes on opposite sides of the curler. The holes are created to allow the perming solution to flow through all of the hair wrapped around the curler. However, upon rinsing the hair, which is completed with hair still wrapped in curlers, the solution and water will accumulate in the hollow center of the curler. When the client sits up or begins to walk from the shampoo station to the chair, these large amounts of water still sitting in the curler will empty down the front or back of the client. Therefore, these curlers are a bad design as they do not allow for the rinsing process to be properly completed and instead create a significant client dissatisfaction when the water is finally released with client movement.

Client's business name is a combination of family members' names. They wanted to have four counties that they cover be represented somewhere on the logo. Colors are to be teal and blue.
These are the logos I came up with. The central ideas played with the concept of family working together "Let our family care for you ..." and the number four to represent the counties and the four co-owners.
