On my way back from an errand at my job's client's office in Chelsea, just a few subway stops away.
(Nice) summer afternoon
NYC - Manhattan
Found this beauty in one of my client's front yard. I just had to stop and pop off a few shots. I have no idea what it's called but I like how the buds look like tiny, tiny tulips. Each flower is about a quarter inch in size. And once all the buds open, the flower forms a circle. Like a globe.

Had to go to a client's house today for some newborn pics...usually they come to my studio. They had a nice big window...so I used it. It was a nice change of pace from my studio lights, but way out of my comfort zone! ;)

Polaroid Big Swinger Model 3000
Atelier Ying, Nyc.
The client is a director of a well-known Canadian fishing association who has traveled to Europe on fly fishing expeditions. He enjoys cigars and scotch during his frequent trips.
The main task was to try to understand both the character of the client and the camera subject so that I could invent an alter ego. The client's British background helped me to locate a suitable structure and detail for his camera. Being an avid fisherman as well as a film luddite added to the personality detail that I was looking for to settle the design. His camera, a Polaroid Swinger Model 3000 was an odd and attractive canvas, very well suited to modification. The featureless gray body made a good contrast to the rich appointments of the interior and was crucial for allowing the eye to simply rest after seeing the completely renovated interior. This is necessary and is an important design feature that I wish to point out; that of letting the eyes rest on something, like an empty wall or the side of a building. This feature isn't normally part of my other designs but I relished the chance to show it off.
This very green camera design takes its initial inspiration from London's Bath Club on Brook Street, there since 1959, and one of a dying breed of traditional British gentlemen's clubs of the past century. An unusual feature is that one of the Bath Club's many rooms is set aside for the venerable but much smaller Flyfisher's Club.
Aside from this Polaroid Land camera's offbeat name and dull grey exterior, its interior is made into an annex to that famous club room and is the world's tiniest member-supported gentlemen's club. It is grandfathered with a dual membership to its owner for the other two London clubs as well.
This club offers a constant supply of Cuban Cohiba mini cigars, box aged at least 8 months. Two of these are kept humidified at any single time inside the camera.
The faux-concrete lightwell in the style of one of Tadao Ando's museums allows the photographer the vicarious experience of descending a series of winding paths into the underbelly of the camera to view the club's collection of fishing equipment, mimicking a feature of the London club. However, the London counterpart never had such an ingenious front entrance. The cigars are each banded with a commemorative club label and are stored also under the same dark theme of an aging cellar.
The lightwell's winding paths are lined with site specific moss, garnering for the club many deductions for going green. This moss garden is hydroponic and a plastic cover (not shown in the photo) keeps a good humidity that extends down by small tubing to keep the cigars humidified. A maintenance set is provided to hydrate the garden by osmosis through a tube with a wick in it.
The club's equally prominent rear entrance is a flat arch. The Intrados is formed by the display cases which hold the client's personal collection of 20 antique fly fishing lures, each meticulously labelled in flowing red script.
Opening the camera back reveals the Impost of this quasi-arch, covered with a rich luxurious leather and embossed with the original Flyfisher Club's Latin motto.
This Polaroid would have to be digitized in order to provide the necessary extra space for the renovation. The digital modification is straightforward and is similar to my other camera modifications.

These cookies were made for a friend/client's children to give to their class mates. They are my first proper attempt at royal icing floodwork (I usually do mostly fondant).
When I originally had the idea to do faces on Christmas trees, I went hunting for similar cookies. I searched something like "Christmas tree cookies" and started looking. Several pages in I still had yet to find a tree with a face. I got excited that maybe, I had an original idea so I kept looking. I got 15 pages in before I finally found a christmas tree shaped cookie with a face (nothing like mine). I guess the search for the illusive original idea continues...
This South Carolina living room combines the client\'s existing antiques and wing chair; the slipcovered London Sofa is new, but its traditional style blends perfectly.
This is one of many many photos I took last week celebrating a friend/client's 20 year wedding anniversary. We were blessed with a gorgeous sunset and I made sure to take full advantage of that moment!
This is the first sitting of my client's AMAZING octopus tattoo. She said she wanted it's arms wrapping all around her arm in a sleeve, and it looks unreal good. Victor helped me place it, it took three different stencils to capture the whole image it's so mega-huge.
A set of custom LEGO minifigures I created for a commission based on the client's original elf characters. Enjoy!

After calling a client's family to find out where they got the animals, I went and bought a couple for myself. This photograph is for one of my groups and the assignment was to "shoot the photographer". So I decided to have a little bit of fun with the assignment! LOL!
Cue the song of the day:
"Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away."

The Farmers Market opened this week in the River Market area of downtown Little Rock and runs all summer long. I just happened to be downtown at a client's office and went over at lunch to eat at one of the local restaurants. I noticed this vendor chatting, laughing and talking to everyone who would listen as he sold his strawberries. It's great to love your job.

I noticed bit of algae growing already in my client's pond today, so started to clean it with the net. To my surprise I noticed a little head sticking out of the green mass... gently dug her out, put her on the stone at the edge of the pond, but she seemed to be too stressed to move by herself... so gentle push did a trick, lol
Very pregnant (?) Newt. Her younger collegue (with the yellow belly) was very eager to go back on his own, lol.

This was the birthday cake for a client's 3 year old Princess. She is obsessed with Dora (as apparently are all young girls) so I found one on Ebay (whew). Originally design from a book I have and then altered with so many bits and bobs from various other castle cakes I have seen in my travels around the Flickr-verse.

Shot for my client's portfolio. Three flash frames and one ambient. Speelight handheld in near leftWWC joint, another above the tub bounced into WC joint above window, and a third frame bounced above the camera to get some more light on the floor in the foreground. Ambient brushed in for some pleasing shadows around the tub and ladder rack. Blended in PS and finished in Nik. CC always appreciated!
A globe thistle up close. I shot this in one of my client's front yard. She's a master gardener and I photograph her flowers regularly. I think I caught this one early before it was fully mature.

Today I photographed a client's installation at the Oakridge Mall on Cambie and 41st. There were giant red velvet donuts sprinkled with cinnamon suspended from the glass ceiling, with delicious crimson taffy melting and dripping gracefully from the walls, and everywhere there were tall cones of wispy, green cotton-candies garnished with small bundles of sweet red berries and golden bonbons on tiny sticks.
Wait a minute, those aren’t donuts and candies!…. This is Ho-ho-horrible. Christmas has once again, crept up on me. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Celebrating Ferruccio Lamborghini's birth, the exclusive Centenario supercar has just made its debut in Geneva.
Despite that, the 770 HP supercar that'll be available in just 40 examples, 20 Coupes and 20 Roadsters at a €1.75 million (1.9$ equivalent) price tag has already been sold out.
Accelerating from naught to 100 km/h (62 mph) takes only 2.8 seconds, 0 to 300 km/h (186 mph) 23.5 seconds and the top speed exceeds 350 km/h (217 mph). Braking from 100 km/h to a standstill is achieved in just 30 meters!
The Centenario uses mococoque and body made from carbon fiber, tipping the scale at 1,520 kg, 55 kg less than the Aventador on which it is based. It measures 4,924 mm long and 1,143 m high, meaning 144 mm longer and 7 mm taller than the Sant'Agata Bolognese flagship.
The aerodynamics are carefully managed with inlets, large air scoops in the front bonnet, air scoops on the roof, extending rear wing, aggressive diffuser with three mid-mounted exhaust pipes and Y-shaped taillights. The machine rides on 20-/21-inch front/rear rims in forged and milled aluminum, wrapped in Pirelli PZero tires, developed specifically for the rear-wheel steering found on the Centenario.
The interior can be finished to each client's specification and it includes lightweight carbon fiber sports seats, new stitching on the length of the dashboard, steering wheel, sunvisors, rocker covers and new carbon fiber-made inner door panels, wrapped in Alcantara.
Sat-nav with a high-def 10.1-inch touchscreen is at the driver's disposal, along with internet, e-mail, social media, online apps and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
The Centenario continues on the same path started with the Reventon, which included the Sesto Elemento, Aventador J and Veneno.

This client's boyfriend is a big fan of the old 1940's and 50's style pinup girl photos, so she wanted her photos to be a mix of both modern and as close to authentic pinup as we could get. (I am posting this pre-retouching. I plan to help out her dress in the back.)

Killing Tires With a Ferrari F12 -- /CHRIS HARRIS ON CARS

The Ferrari F12berlinetta[3] (also unofficially referred to as the F12 Berlinetta or the F12) is a front mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive grand tourer produced by Italian sports car manufacturer Ferrari. The F12berlinetta, debuted at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show, replaces the 599 series grand tourers.[4] The naturally aspirated 6.3 litre Ferrari V12 engine in the F12berlinetta has won the International Engine of the Year Awards 2013 in the Best Performance category and Best Engine above 4.0 litres. The F12berlinetta was named "The Supercar of the Year 2012" by car magazine Top Gear.
In 2014 it was awarded the XXIII Premio Compasso d'oro ADI. Accepting the award was Ferrari’s Senior Vice President of Design, Flavio Manzoni.
Engine[edit]
The F12berlinetta uses a 6,262 cc (382 cu in), naturally aspirated 65° V12 engine of the Ferrari F140 engine family. Engine displacement is shared with the FF, but the F140 FC version installed on the F12 produces 740 PS (544 kW; 730 hp) at 8250 rpm[5] and 690 N·m (509 lb·ft) of torque at 6000 rpm, making it the most powerful Ferrari roadcar to date, only surpassed by LaFerrari. This allows the F12berlinetta to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in an officially reported 3.1 seconds, 0 to 200 km/h (120 mph) in 8.5 seconds and a top speed of over 350 km/h (220 mph).[1][2][6]
The engine of the F12berlinetta has been designed to be more efficient than that of the 599, as well as more powerful. The engine management system is fitted with Ferrari's HELE start-stop system to reduce fuel consumption when idling. Ferrari reports that the F12berlinetta can achieve 18 mpg-imp (15.7 L/100 km; 15.0 mpg-US) – a 30% improvement over the 599 – and produces CO2 emissions of 350 g/km.[4]
Transmission[edit]
Similar to the California, 458 Italia, FF and LaFerrari, the F12berlinetta transmits power through a 7-speed dual-clutch automated semi-automatic gearbox operated by the driver using paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. Compared to similar models, the F12berlinetta uses shortened gear ratios to match the power of the engine.[2][3]
Chassis[edit]
The F12berlinetta is built around an aluminium space frame chassis co-developed with Scaglietti. The chassis is made up of 12 different aluminium alloys and improves structural rigidity by 20% over the 599, whilst reducing weight by 70 kg (150 lb). The centre of gravity has been lowered by around 25 mm (1 in). The F12berlinetta's weight distribution is 48% front, 52% rear.[7]
Similar to other contemporary Ferrari models, the F12berlinetta uses Ferrari's third generation CCM3 carbon ceramic disc brakes with ABS, SCM-E magnetorheological suspension, an electronic LSD, ESP Premium stability control and F1-Trac traction control. The car's stability and traction control, suspension and other settings are controlled by the Manettino dial mounted on the steering wheel.[3]
Tires[edit]
The F12berlinetta is fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, with the tyre codes 255/35ZR20 at the front and 315/35ZR20 at the rear.[8]
Aerodynamics[edit]
The F12berlinetta makes use of aerodynamic techniques based on Ferrari's 599XX and Formula One programmes, developed with wind tunnel and CFD testing. A notable feature is the Aero Bridge, an air channel running from the bonnet, through the flanks and along the sides of the vehicle, creating an effect that increases downforce. Another feature is Active Brake Cooling ducts, which open to direct cooling air only when the brakes are hot, keeping them closed at other times to reduce aerodynamic drag. The F12berlinetta produces 200 kg (440 lb) of downforce at 200 km/h (120 mph) – an increase of 76% over the 599 GTB – and has a drag coefficient of 0.299.[1][2][3]
Performance[edit]
Ferrari reports that the F12berlinetta is capable of lapping the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute, 23 seconds; three seconds slower than LaFerrari, a full second faster than the 599 GTO, two seconds faster than the Enzo, two seconds faster than the 458 Italia, two seconds faster than the 430 Scuderia and three and a half seconds faster than the 599 GTB.[1]
Design[edit]
The body of the F12berlinetta is designed by the Ferrari Styling Centre and Pininfarina, and shares some styling elements with other recent Ferrari models. This includes a front grille similar to the FF and headlights shared with the FF and 458 Italia. The interior, based on the FF, features new "Frau leather" upholstery with aluminium, Alutex, and carbon fibre trim, and has increased luggage space compared to the 599.[2][3]
The body computer system is developed by Magneti Marelli Automotive Lighting.
One-offs and specials[edit]
Ferrari F12 TRS[edit]
The F12 TRS is a unique one-off with barchetta body based on the F12berlinetta, made for a customer by Ferrari under its Special Projects programme. It made its public debut in Sicily at Ferrari Cavalcade in June 2014. Designed in-house by the Centro Stile Ferrari headed by Flavio Manzoni, it was inspired by the 1957 250 Testa Rossa, reiterpreted in a modern key.[9][10] The Ferrari F12 TRS also took part to the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed.[11]
Ferrari SP America[edit]
The Ferrari SP America is a F12berlinetta-based one-off coupé completed in 2014, like the F12 TRS an offspring of Ferrari's Special Projects programme.[12]
Ferrari F60 America[edit]
The Ferrari F60 America is a limited production roadster derivative of the F12, celebrating 60 years of Ferrari in North America.[13] It was built by Ferrari in ten examples, according to the manufacturer all already spoken for at the time of the car's public introduction in October 2014.[14] The open-top configuration pays homage to US-only limited production convertible Ferraris of the past, such as the 275 GTS/4 NART Spider. Compared to the F12, the F60 has all-new bodywork; it uses a light removable soft top instead of a conventional convertible top. Each of the ten examples built features an asymmetrical cabin design with red trim for the driver's area and black for the passenger, American flag detailing in the center of the backrests of both seats, and classic blue and white North American Racing Team livery.
Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso[edit]
At the March 2015 Geneva Motor Show Carrozzeria Touring unveiled the Touring Superleggera Berlinetta Lusso, an one-off two-seater, three-box coupé based on the F12berlinetta.[15] Carrozzeria Touring made the car on a client's request, rebodying the F12 in aluminium alloys and carbon fibre; a small production run of five examples was announced.[15]
