On Saturday, we took out years of junk, forgotten belongings, and the odd useful objects from the attic of the Stoke Newington jagrti. The attic had become a sort of a joke amongst us at the centre - not anymore! now we have an attic to be proud of. The energy has changed, both the physical one, and the mental. (I have to say... the item that topped them all was the car dashboard!)

Taking part in an active environmental community is paramount which is why we not only organise our own beach cleanup events but also help out whenever we are invited to join other organisations or groups who organise events which share our goals and dreams!

This Earth day clean up in north west Scarborough’s Ward 39 was a great success with kids from Chester Le school, residents from the neighbourhood, CIBC staff and the gardeners of the Chester Le Olive community garden participating. The park and garden were cleaned up, compost spread on garden beds and pathways in the garden mulched. Translation was provided in Mandarin and free native seeds given out. About 80 people helped out with the clean up.

Friday night lights at Raider stadium provide a Saturday morning fundraiser for the Richmond soccer teams. Instead of the echo of fans cheering their team you can hear coach Bennie Howard's encouragement, "If it's not a piece of popcorn or a peanut shell pick it up!" Howard and players meet at 8:00 am every Saturday following a home football
game to clean the stadium and parking lots. "It's much better than selling doughnuts." said Howard as the players filled dozens of trash bags. Following the cleanup session the players head to the opposite side of campus for soccer practice.
