The impressive Eldhraun lava field is the biggest lava flow in the world. It was formed during the Laki eruption in the late 1700s and covers an area of 565 square Kilometers (218 sq miles)
For the most part, it is a desolate landscape, but there are places where these beautiful flowers grow wild in an otherwise barren environment.
Arctic Thyme, (Thymus praecox arcticus) or 'Blóðberg' as it is known in Iceland, can be found across the island due to its preference for sandy and gravelly soils, of which there is an abundance.
The pretty purple flowers have long been used to make tea and Blóðberg is considered a staple in the world of Icelandic herbs. It is believed to have medicinal properties and health benefits such as strengthening the heart and head, cleansing the blood and contributing to menstrual regulation.

One thing for sure, that you view life from a different perspective angle on a canal, which I was taking an enjoyable ride and cruising on a narrowboat on the Llangollen canal, where I spotted this scene!

This is Highway 89, north of Quincy, in Plumas County, site of the recent Dixie Fire. It has to date, consumed over 900,000 acres of prime, oftentimes virgin forest, both privately owned and Public.

This was yesterday. Unenhanced. The good news is this morning saw blue skies and clear air. Clouds have since rolled in bringing cleansing rain.
Another couple of images from the little session at the coast in the week. It was fun to use the 24mm T/S again...it seemed like ages. Happy holidays everyone!
Hey, that camera bag in the creek looks just like mine...
There are probably better ways to clean lenses and camera bags, but this worked for me. I'll try not to leave the bag on a slope again.
