Found this during an attic cleanout, mailed from the U.S.S. Chilton on May 26, 1969, the day of the Apollo 10 splashdown. The Chilton was not the primary recovery ship, but was apparently one of the ships assigned to recovery duty.
inside the envelope was a sheet of paper with only a return address sticker...from my grandmother's neighbor George Hancock, with whom I had become friends several years prior

Drain cleanout access cover in a New Orleans, Louisiana sidewalk. It was manufactured by the Laurel Machine and Foundry Company from Laurel, Mississippi. The company was founded in 1904 and is still in business today.
This one's probaby our prettiest. Orange and red scales, with watercolor dapples of black down her spine.
Used in concealed drainage lines where a cleanout is desired. Removable face-of-wall cover allows easy access to closure plug.

Stuff was just kind of piled in there. We did a lot of random grocery type shopping this weekend so we had a whole lot of mess.
wardrobe remix/closet cleaning. dress i bought for the summer but never wore b/c i thought someone might think it was maternity since it's a little flowy :P but i like it with jeans & the cardigan for fall. love the look of super concentration i have! hilarious!
When we bought the chest freezer, there was an enormous shelving unit there. We just pulled it out from the wall enough to put the freezer in. And there it sat for months while we sidled in to the freezer. Donation companies wouldn't take it, nor any of the other old-old-old shelving (not that I blame them).
So I finally took a pry bar and a sledgehammer and broke three stacked rows of old kitchen cabinets plus two large shelving units into small pieces, stacked them in my car, and hauled them to the landfill. (One trip! I love my car. And my sledgehammer/pry bar/saw.) Then I bought some new shelving units, assembled them, and reorganized the entire garage.
There had been boxes and random stuff almost completely taking up the floor space, leaving just a walkway to get through from the inner door to the outside.
The difference is HUGE. Looking at the video, there's still a ton of stuff out there... but it's all off the floor and well-organized. Everything is reachable. Everything can be seen. It's an incredible difference. We walk out there and just marvel at it. It even sounds different.
