I went to go see the Civil War re-enactment at Van Raalte Farms September 2015 in Holland. We arrived of course right when they opened and walked through the Union and Confederate Camps. Here is one of the officers.

The town of Muang Sua was settled on the Mekong River in the 7th century. In 1353, King Fa Ngum (ruled 1353-1373) unified northern Laos, founding the Kingdom of Lan Xang (Land of a Million Elephants). He designated Muang Sua as his capital, renamed it Luang Prabang and introduced Theravada Buddhism to the country. The Kingdom of Lan Xang collapsed in 1707 and suffered repeated invasions from Burma, Siam (Thaiiland) and Vietnam. Luang Prabang was sacked by the Chinese Black Flag Army in 1887, and in 1893 Laos came under French rule, when it was included in French Indochina. The end of French Indochina came In 1954 after the French were defeated at Dien Bien Phu in Vietnam, which resulted in the division of Vietnam at the 17th parallel and independence for Laos and Cambodia. A Laotion civil war ensued with the Pathet Lao defeating royalist forces and establishing the Lao People's Democratic Republic on 02 December 1975.

Luang Prabang is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Town of Luang Prabang" inscribed in 1995.

I was privileged to attend a re-enactment of the battle, Basing House. The knowledge by the participants of the tactics and way of life was excellent. A great day out.

A Pro-Palestine rally marches through the city as tensions rise when a Pro-Israeli rally approaches. A moment earlier there had been a sit-down protest in the middle of the street for this, what I believe to be, unsanctioned rally latching onto the March Against Racism rally earlier in the day.

I'm not a press photographer but, as a street shooter, I feel it is important to document life and times on our streets. With that in mind I ducked and dived through the midst of the protesters to get the shots that, for me, told the story. Enjoy!

At the Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge, Charlo, Montana.

This is where the last shot from Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia on April 9, 1865. The end of hostilities from Lee's triggered the end of the Civil War, though Confederate troops continued fighting out west into June.

I had no clue how to photograph this correctly

I haven't been out much lately so I will post another shot from last year. This was taken in September at a Civil War re-enactment at Van Raalte Farms in Holland.

War of the roses, the House of York was white, the House of Lancaster was red, basically in the end was a red and white rose for the House of Tudor. Inspire Me Thursday was dedicated to this textile to remind us that the end results may not be what you think you are waging war for.

Big stone wheels keep on spinning... Funny choice as a stop on a charity motorcycle ride.

This is a working stone mill that dates back to Civil War times..

Greatcoats orginally were a coat with a cape, my version is just the cape. I think it works pretty well, this is not the final version but the third rendition but I think the shape is good.

There will be no printing on the final piece abd will come in dark blue and light blay, at least that is what I am planning on.
