Boisduval's Autumn Moth (Oenosandra boisduvalii) larva (late instar)
Until today I had not heard of this moth/caterpillar, let alone seen one. Spotted on the back of a leaf from our Loquat tree that was laying on the ground. It's time ! Our pretty Rookie got her mane groomed. She have a really fluffy one and as the weather is getting warm, she have a lot of sweat on her neck when we ride her. To make her more comfortable, we decided to knot her mane for the night, after a nice refreshing shower. We will release her mane in the morning and do it again right before the ride.

A common starling enjoying the mist from a sprinkler below at the Queens Botanical Garden.
Starlings are chunky with short tails and long, slender beaks. In flight, their wings are short and pointed, making them look rather like small, four pointed stars (and thus giving them their name),
At a distance, starlings look black. In summer, they are purplish iridescent with yellow beaks, in fish winter plumage, they are brown, covered in brilliant white spots.

Behold my (semi) glorious creation! I’ll probably end up deleting this. Still gotta order some pieces and rework some of the scaling.
Bracelet bought from a second hand store some years ago. My intention was to use the triangular beads for a project. One of those projects I never got around to doing. Perhaps I'll just restring it.
This is one of the feral cats that we sometimes see in the Forest. Lovely chunky boy. They live on a small holding without resident people, but the guy who owns the land does feed them.
We are off to Northumbria tomorrow. We were hoping to actual go into Bamburgh Castle this time as, because of Covid last year, it wasn't open. Bad timing as someone is filming there all next week so it's closed. . I was telling my podiatrist and somehow she found out that it is the new Indiana Jones movie. I shall keep my eyes peeled for Harrison Ford *wink*.
I have posted a picture of outside the castle which I took last year. You can see why they have chosen it as a film location, can't you?

Sitka, Alaska, has an educational, non-profit bear rescue centre called Fortress of the Bear. This is a collage of 4 Brown bears from the sanctuary, rescued as orphan cubs, looking well fed from donations from local grocery stores and fishers.

We made the decision to scrap our old deep fat fryer when we moved house. It was hard to clean & disposing of the waste oil responsibly wasn't easy. So oven chips are the way forward - much healthier (well OK a bit healthier). We only indulge once a week often with a nice juicy steak.
I kept these 3 back for the photo-shoot then I shared them with our 2 dogs. Half a chip each for the dogs & 2 chips for me, good job dogs can't count :)

Another week has flown by, and this little chunky monkey has gained a pound since he was born two weeks ago. He is still in that yummy newborn stage where they are up to eat, look around for a bit, and then go back to sleep. But don't get me wrong, having two little ones is busy, busy, busy and Gus is keeping me on my toes. Life has defiantly gotten more fun and the days have gone by fast.
