Thank you to all of you who took the time to read my last post and thanks to everyone that commented. It is good to hear from so many of you that also feel the passion to protect our precious wildlife.
It was a sad day for British Columbia Grizzly Bears with April 1st being the first day of the spring hunt. The fact that trophy hunting is still happening in this province (or anywhere) is sad. People are not hunting for sustainability, however taking the head and paws off these dead animals and leaving the carcass minus maybe a couple of organs says nothing to me about sustainability.
The only way to shoot wildlife is with a camera. Period.
I will try to keep the emotion I feel about this aside and share some facts. Today I read some info from Pacific Wild about a report the David Suzuki Foundation released. 14,000 Grizzly Bears have been killed in BC since 1975 which is approximately 329 Bears killed a year. 34% of those Grizzlies were female Bears. Grizzlies are the slowest reproducing land mammal in North America, only next to the Polar Bear.
91% of British Columbians oppose the hunt.
Why is it still happening? A lot of politics involved with the Guide Outfitters claiming they bring revenue into BC when in fact the cost of hunting is more than the revenue. We the tax payers are helping pay for the hunt. Bear viewing tourism brings in more money and jobs to this province than hunting does. Living Bears are worth more than dead Bears. Time to go Christy Clark.
The trophy hunters claim that Grizzly Bear populations have increased in recent years which is why they must do their part with "conservation" and keep the population in check. They claim if they kill the big male Bears they are in fact saving the cubs. That is just a twisted justification that I can't comprehend. There has been no accurate count of Grizzlies by our BC Government as that would cost money. Yet Christy Clark's Government claims numbers are up so they can issue more tags.
These Bears want nothing from us yet we are taking it all from them. If you feel passionate about ending this hunt please reach out to your MLA, send letters, emails and sign petitions. Talk to others about it & share your pics of these beautiful Bears. Let's make people see the beauty in them through our photos. For the sake of the Grizzlies we must stand up for them and all of us in BC must vote on May 9th.

Demand for medical imaging in B.C. has never been greater. Premier Christy Clark and Health Minister Terry Lake announced a new four-year strategy for magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) services to help health authorities increase patient access to MRI scans.
“With an ageing population, health authorities face increasing demand for medical imaging services,” said Premier Clark. “This is what having a strong, growing economy allows us to do – invest in a new strategy to address waitlists throughout the province, and continue to deliver the services British Columbians depend on."

Dave Holmberg, a well-known Abbotsford citizen, received the Medal of Good Citizenship for his ongoing volunteer and philanthropic contributions to the city. From March 2–4, 2016, nearly two thousand business and government leaders from over 50 countries came together to network and advance global business and sustainability agendas. As North America’s largest and longest-running Conference series dedicated to Business Innovation for the Planet, GLOBE 2016 is about taking responsibility, forging new partnerships and thinking outside the box.
The Province will build on its world-renowned provincial parks system by hiring more park rangers to enhance conservation, improving services for persons with disabilities and launching a new BC Parks Foundation so community groups, businesses and individuals can come together and have a voice in BC Parks priorities.
In addition, the Province will add more than 1,900 new campsites to help meet growing demand. More than 800 of the sites will be in provincial parks and over 1,000 will be in recreation sites, delivering a range of camping experiences in areas of highest demand. The commitments are contained in a new BC Parks Future Strategy, “Protecting our Legacy Together”.

During the BC Muslim Association Women's Gala, Premier Christy Clark spoke to and met with women leaders from various faith organizations about the key role women have to build strong, prosperous communities in BC and around the world.
While visiting Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd. in Prince George, Premier Christy Clark and Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour announced that the Canada-BC Job Grant is available to help businesses provide their current or new employees with skills training. Yellowhead Helicopters Ltd. was a previous recipient of the grant for over $244,000, which enabled them to train 40 employees in areas such as engine maintenance, aircraft field maintenance, mountain flying, advanced operational flight training, advanced driving techniques, supervisor training and quality assurance.

As the City of Surrey continues to grow, Premier Christy Clark has announced funding for up to 2,700 new student spaces. These spaces will provide students with new classrooms and help tackle the rapidly growing need for schools in the fastest growing community in BC.
The announcement includes nearly $100 million to fund six priority projects in Surrey.
