Many years ago this area included a road which led to a bridge a short distance away. Miners and loggers used the bridge and the road to access mines or to log. Then the bridge washed out. This Chevrolet was left behind. A tree has grown through the middle of it.
We went off the trail and waded across Granite Creek. If you look closely you will see Wilbur in the background trying to prepare his phone to fly his drone. Flying the drone didn't work out well given the thick tree cover. But at least I got a shot of the Chevrolet.
Chevrolet is an American automobile division of the manufacturer General Motors. In North America, Chevrolet produces and sells a wide range of vehicles, from subcompact automobiles to medium-duty commercial trucks. ...This one was taken at Sewerby Cliff Top after taking part in the East Coast Run from The Humber Bridge to Sewerby nr Bridlington ..
Here’s an example of a 1956 Chevrolet that appears to be very well sorted out (look at those body panel and trim fit-ups!) and not overdone. I also appreciate that although the headlamps are modern units, they don’t look like insect eyes, halos or other distracting replacement types available today.
There were no classic car shows during the past year of pandemia.
No grassy fields of neatly parked vintages with chrome accents glittering in the summer sun.
No peeks into restored interiors invited by open windows and fuzzy dice hanging from rear view mirrors.
No friendly conversations with proud owners graciously sharing prized possessions.
I suppose many would say this was just a minor inconvenience, considering the lost jobs and grim accountings of those infected and those who died.
And Yes, I’d agree.
But I hadn’t realized how much I missed classic car shows last year.
And also those times before then, when you didn’t need to think about ‘social distancing’ with others in attendance for fear of what you or the other might have acquired, but not yet know.
SS 350 2-door coupe
The Nova Super Sport was transformed from a trim option to a performance package for 1968. One of the smallest muscle cars ever fielded by Detroit, the Nova SS now included a 295 hp (220 kW) 350 cu in (5.7 L) V8 engine along with a heavy-duty suspension and other performance hardware, priced at US$312.[14] Optional V8 engines included two versions of the big-block 396 cu in (6.5 L) rated at 350 bhp (350 PS; 260 kW); and 375 bhp (380 PS; 280 kW) at 5600 rpm and 415 lb⋅ft (563 N⋅m) at 3600 rpm of torque, which went for US$348. Both engines were offered with a choice of transmissions including the M-21 close-ratio four-speed manual, the heavy-duty M-22 "Rock Crusher" four-speed manual, or the three-speed Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission. A total of 5,571 SS coupés were produced for 1968. Novas sported the SS badge until 1976. Front disc brakes were optional on the 1968 Nova SS.
