I've been waiting 8 years for a long hard freeze to create icicles in Chee Tor tunnel on the Monsal Trail. Today there were more than in 2013. I know how nervous I had been last time, but this time I made sure I had a hard hat.
Another shot overlooked from earlier this year in Chee Tor Tunnel, Derbyshire with a few ne'er do well light painters
Really been digging this one, Hasbro did so much better with this one than they did with Cheetor a few years back.
The first time I've got a shot I'm satisfied with from this beautiful place. It's so tricky with the contrast in light and shade and with so many trees it's hard to find a composition. Add to that the knee deep mud, jungle like foliage and slippy limestone rocks.
From a recent excursion in the dark with Tim Gamble and James Mills; lighting and net curtain waving by Tim, standing still duties by James....it seems all too easy to stand and trigger the cameras....
A quality evening out tonight on the Monsal Trail in Chee Tor tunnel. A first meet up with Phill Fisher along with Chris T and Neil R. First choice was Padley Gorge but the weather wasn't playing so a swift detour here.
Lots of fireworks and back lighting provided by Chris' new X21.2R which is a proper beast. This one was a little over cooked so had to drag the exposure back a little in LR. This is a double silhouette but one has almost vanished inside the bedlam.
Exposed the first two silhouettes then Chris set a firework spinning on his drill taped to a length of aluminium whilst I rotated the camera a full 360.
A superb night with like minded folks always does the trick.
This is number 2 of my 366.
all this miserable weather recently is enough to drive you underground...
This is one of the Chee Tor tunnels - part of the Monsal trail, a disused railway line (courtesy of Dr Beeching) that is now a walking and cycling trail
Another top night in Chee Tor tunnel, Derbyshire with fellow light painting lunatic, Tim Gamble. This was nailed fairly quickly using Tim's orb skills because I am severely rusty at these things!
First time in ages visting Chee Tor tunnel with Tim G, this is a 3 way camera rotation. The green circle is actually the emergency light in the tunnel leaving a trail as I spin the camera.
From last night's outing in a tunnel with Neil R and Tim, I had a go at improving a previous shot inspired by the new Bladerunner film due out soon. As is the way with things, I don't think I succeeded but here it is anyway....
Shot in one photographic exposure and cropped for the benefit of my pseudo OCD...
From last night's collaboration with Tim Gamble, Phill Fisher and Neil Rushby doing his best not to look like a Harry Potter wizard :-)
People walking their dog while riding bicycles at Chee Tor tunnels on the Monsal Trail, in the Debyshire Peak District. This used to be the Manchester to Derby and London Midland mainline, but now it's a cycle trail from Blackwell Mill to Bakewell.
Ok, the cheetah mode looks exactly like Cheetor. does in the animated series...except for all those panel lines!😳. Yuck

Entering No.1 tunnel, westbound trains encountered a long curve to the south of 40 chains radius, after which a straight alignment takes over. The tunnel is 401 yards long (Or 1203 feet)
Chee Tor No.1 and No.2 Tunnels on the Monsal Trail near Buxton, Derbyshire.
The Monsal Trail cycleway follows a section of the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midlands Junction Railway, built by the Midland Railway in 1863 to link Manchester with London.
The line was closed in 1968 by the Labour Minister for Transport Barbara Castle, not as it is often thought by the Beeching Axe.
The Trail runs for almost 9 miles from Coombs Viaduct, 1 mile south-east of Bakewell to Topley Pike junction, 3 miles east of Buxton.
"Gnng!! ...urf... HRRNNHH!!"
"Uhh... Cheetor, what's going on?"
"Oh! Hey, Optimus, um, just, you know, chillin."
"You didn't look like you were-"
"Okay, I'm stuck! OKAY!? I'm STUCK!!"
"Stuck?"
"Yeah? As in, I got stuck while transforming??"
"I... I didn't even know that was possible."
"Would you just give me a hand!? Here, push against me and I'll try to twist..."
"Well, okay..."
"RRRNNHH!! GAH!! I can't break out of this..."
"Okie, doke. I'll, uh, see ya."
"WHAT!? You're going to leave me like this??"
"Honestly, it's kind of embarrassing. A Transformer that can't... you know... transform."

chee tor tunnel
the final week of the year was a gloomy one, the obvious highlights of Christmas and New Year apart, the weather kept us off the hills. In times of rain its best to stay dry, so why not go underground?
The Monsal Trail is a disused railway line, now converted to a walking and cycling trail by the Peak District National Park. It used to be fragmented, but earlier this year they re-opened some of the tunnels thus joining up all the sections.
Not only are the tunnels dry, they are warm(ish) and make a nice location for a self portrait...
Did this shot by standing my camera on it's bag. I like the unusual angle that adds a different feeling to the shot. This is the main Chee Tor Tunnel on the Monsal Trail. Part of the cuts made by Barbara Castle under a Labour Government in 1968 closed it (thanks to Langley Mill Derbyshire for the info).
You can still imagine a steam engine running through it, a very haunting beauty
One wrong move... and I will KO!
Oh, wow, a Transformer!
Seems... kind of wobbly.
Are you missing anything?
Did you get stuck mid-transformation like Cheetos?*
Cheetor! The name was Cheetor!
Like cheater?
No! Like Cheetor! A mix between a cheetah and... an or.
Sounds MOTUish.
I am not stuck! I am missing my front wheel and shield. But that is of no concern!
So, you're going to 'KO'?
Knock out?
The grammar seems off.
I am KO personified!
KO... wait, are you legit??
Are you from Hasbro??
As far as you know.
Ooohhh... KO is right!
This guy's a G1 knock-off!
Burn it with fire!
I'm calling Hasbro.
Or should we call Takara?
