C'était fin-novembre 2013, alors que ce magnifique spécimen avait passé quelques jours dans le bassin de rétention d'eau situé côté sud-est de l'échangeur Charest - Robert Bourassa, à Sainte-Foy (Québec)... Quelques colverts l'accompagnaient...

spit (n.), a narrow point of land extending into a body of water
This spit of land, whose tip is covered by gulls, is part of Île Charest, a small island in the mouth of Rivière Magog, which flows into Lac Memphrémagog. I took this photo on October 5, 2016 while standing in Magog, Quebec's Parc de la Pointe-Merry.
