The Serra dos Órgãos National Park is the third oldest park in the country, representing an important milestone in the history of Brazilian Conservation Units. It was created during the Getúlio Vargas government on November 30, 1939. It currently has an approximate area of 20,024 hectares in the municipalities of Teresópolis, Petrópolis, Magé and Guapimirim.
It is one of the best places in the country to practice mountain sports, such as climbing, hiking, abseiling and others; besides having fantastic waterfalls. The Park has the largest network of trails in Brazil. There are more than 200 km / 124 miles of trails at all levels of difficulty: from the suspended trail, accessible to wheelchair users, to the heavy Petrópolis-Teresópolis crossing, with 30 km / 19 miles of ascents and descents through the high part of the mountains.
Among the climbs, the peak of God's Finger stands out, considered the starting point of climbing in Brazil, and God's Finger, chosen as one of the 15 best rock climbs in the world.

La plus haute chaîne de montagnes d'Europe
Les Suisses ont quelques bonnes raisons d’être fiers de leurs montagnes: c’est le pays d’Europe qui compte le plus grand nombre de hauts sommets: 48 pics culminant à plus de 4000m! Le sommet le plus haut se situe dans le massif du Mont Rose, à la pointe Dufour, à 4634 m. Plus de 1200 sommets culminant entre 2000 et 3000 mètres se trouvent dans le canton des Grisons. Le canton d’Uri détient toutefois le record de la plus forte densité de sommets entre 2000 et 3000 mètres d’altitude, avec un sommet tous les 2,5 km2.
Dans les Préalpes et sur le versant septentrional des Alpes, se situent le lac de Thoune, lac de Brienz, lac de Zoug et lac des Quatre-Cantons et sur le versant méridional, le lac de Lugano et lac Majeur. Il faut y ajouter des centaines de petits lacs naturels et de retenue, surtout dans les Alpes. Durant les mois d’été, les plaines des fleuves Rhin, Rhône, Pô et Danube bénéficient de l’eau qui s’écoule des Alpes, chaque année avec une grande fiabilité.
Les Alpes suisses sont également le magnifique décor de nombreux records:
•La gare ferroviaire la plus haute d’Europe culmine à 3454m au Jungfraujoch.
•La plus haute brasserie d’Europe est, à 1600m, à Monstein dans les Grisons.
•Le tramway le plus haut d’Europe culmine à 2222m à Zermatt, en Valais.
•L’ascenseur en plein air le plus haut d’Europe atteint 153m (Hammetschwand, Bürgenstock, Nidwald).
•Le train du Pilatus circule sur le chemin de fer à crémaillère le plus raide du monde (48%) dans le canton de Lucerne.
•Le funiculaire le plus incliné d’Europe (106%) est à Gelmerbahn au pied du col du Grimsel, dans le canton de Berne.
•La route postale la plus escarpée d’Europe (28%) se trouve à Kiental dans l’Oberland bernois.
•Le glacier d’Aletsch en Valais est le plus long des Alpes, avec à peu près 23km.

Der First ist eine Verflachung des Südwest-Rückens zum Widderfeldgrätli (2'632 m ü. M.) im Berner Oberland nördlich oberhalb von Grindelwald. Er ist über eine Gondelbahn oder zu Fuss erreichbar. Die obere Bergstation heisst ebenfalls First (2'167 m ü. M.) und steht den Besuchern im Winter und im Sommer mit einem gut ausgebauten Ski- und Wandergebiet zur Verfügung.
Besonders beliebt ist die Wanderung zum Bachalpsee und weiter zum Faulhorn, die ein spektakuläres Panorama mit Blick auf den oberen Grindelwaldgletscher sowie Eiger, Mönch und Jungfrau bietet. Eine weitere interessante Wanderung führt auf das Schwarzhorn. Östlich von First liegt 5,6 Kilometer zu Fuss entfernt die Grosse Scheidegg.
Der First ist ein Startort für Paraglider und Deltasegler sowie Ausgangspunkt für zahlreiche Mountainbiketouren. Station First bietet auch einen imposanten kurvenreichen Schlittenweg, welcher bei guten Schneeverhältnissen direkt nach Grindelwald führt.

The Finsteraarhorn (4,274 m (14,022 ft)) is the highest mountain in the Bernese Alps and the highest mountain in the canton of Berne. It is also the highest summit in the Alps lying outside the main chain, or watershed. The Finsteraarhorn is the ninth highest and third most prominent peak in the Alps. Since 2001 the whole massif and surrounding glaciers are part of the Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site.
Das Finsteraarhorn ist mit 4'274 m ü. M. der höchste Gipfel der Berner Alpen, des Kantons Bern und überhaupt der Schweiz östlich von Lötschberg und Simplon, zudem ist es höchster Punkt im Einzugsgebiet des Rheins. Sein markanter Gipfel dominiert die Panoramen der gesamten Zentral- und Ostschweiz. Es liegt an der Grenze der Kantone Bern und Wallis.
Das Finsteraarhorn hat eine zugeschärfte, haifischflossenartige Form und erscheint in Streichrichtung der Grate von NW oder SO als steiles Horn. Quer dazu erscheint es als breit hingelagertes Dreieck.
Geologisch gehört es zum Aarmassiv und besteht aus Amphibolit. Geomorphologisch ist seine Berggestalt als Karling charakterisiert.
Der Normalanstieg erfolgt - ausgehend vom Grimselpass - von der Finsteraarhornhütte über die SW-Seite bis zum ersten Absatz des NW-Grats (sog. Hugisattel auf 4'088 m), und von dort über den Grat (zunächst in den Felsen oder im Schnee der SW-Flanke) zum Gipfel (WS I-II).
Der markante Gipfel wurde am 16. August 1812 von Arnold Abbühl, Joseph Bortis und Alois Volken zum ersten Mal bestiegen, den Gipfel erreichten sie vermutlich über den heute zum grossen Teil abgeschmolzenen Hängegletscher in der Ostflanke des Südostgrats. Allerdings ist nicht klar, ob die drei tatsächlich den Hauptgipfel erreichten. Erwiesen ist hingegen die Bezwingung des Gipfels am 10. August 1829 durch Jakob Leuthold und Johann Währen über den heutigen Normalweg. Diese waren die Bergführer des Gletscherforschers Franz Joseph Hugi, der selbst wegen einer Fussverletzung in einer Einsattelung, die heute seinen Namen trägt, zurückbleiben musste.

While shooting at the prison there were some old prints from the 30's hanging on the wall. One was the prisoners being marched across the yard - I compiled with one of the prison cell levels.

The Bois de Boulogne is a large public park located along the western edge of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, near the suburb of Boulogne-Billancourt and Neuilly-sur-Seine. The land was ceded to the city of Paris by the Emperor Napoleon III to be turned into a public park in 1852.
It is the second-largest park in Paris, slightly smaller than the Bois de Vincennes on the eastern side of the city. It covers an area of 845 hectares (2088 acres), which is about two and a half times the area of Central Park in New York and slightly less (88%) than that of Richmond Park in London.
The Bois de Boulogne contains two artificial lakes and eight artificial ponds, connected by three artificial streams. They receive their water from a canal drawn from Ourq River and from artesian wells in Passy. The water arrives in the Lac Superieur (Upper Lake), built in 1852 and located near the Hippodrome de Auteil, then flows by gravity to the Grand Cascade and then to the Lac Inferieur, or Lower Lake.
The Lac Inferieur (1853) is the largest lake in the park, near the large lawns of Muette. The area is very popular with joggers, and boats can be rented on the lower lake from 15 February to the end of October. The lake is the home to many swans and ducks. An island in the lake, accessible by boat, contains the city's only monument to the Park's builder, Napoleon III; a small wooden kiosk at the end of the island, called the Kiosk of the Emperor.
