After pulling out of the Milby Street roundhouse via the spur track at right, a duo of BNSF SD40-2s makes the run down the West Belt to New South Yard, 2 miles south of here. 1751's Santa Fe yellowbonnet paint was a nice touch through the searchlight curve at CP Rusk.

Since the re-opening of the Oshawa GM plant, the Canadian Pacific Oshawa Turn has resumed with a fairly mixed bag of power. After taking way too long to see it with my own eyes, I managed to take this photograph of it crossing the Cherrywood trestle with a couple of oldies in the lead. The trailing SD40-2 would've been ideal, but I'll take 4514 any day of the week.

The 14K stamp on the inside of a gold ring, taken for the Macro Mondays group theme, "Stamp." The frame represents a span of ⅝ - of-an-inch across.
Strobist/technical info:
The scene was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights and an LED cube light. The SB900s were placed at 9- and 3-o'clock, twenty-inches above and thirty-inches away from the ring. They were fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄128 (CL) and 1⁄64 (CR) power respectively through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes. An LED cube was placed overhead and behind the ring to illuminate the background.
The SB900s were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X flash triggers.
Lens: Reverse-mounted Nikon EL - Nikkor 50mm/f2.8 with a 36mm extension tube attached.

As I implied with the previous photo, the line east of Fès is not electrified. Service is almost exclusively covered by class DH 400 locomotives, with numbers 416-420 (certified for a top speed of 140 kph) covering part of the passenger services. Freight service is sparse, particularly on a Friday (the holy day in Islam, equivalent to Sunday in Christian countries): I have only seen one freight trein from the rooftop terrace of my riad back in Fès - too far and too built-in to be photographed.
Here, Al-Atlas 101 (the same train as on the previous photo, which one can easily overtake) is crossing a side arm of the Idriss I reservoir (visible in the background), hauled by DH 420. The loco is of American origin (EMD NGT26CW-3) but built by TŽV Gredelj in Croatia. The reservoir is normally full of water, but an extended drought has laid bare the small old railway bridge visible between two pillars of the new one. Ouled Ayad, 06-01-2023.
I love my sister's backyard. Several bird feeders, lots of trees a National Wildlife Federation certified Wildlife Habitat. But shooting Humming birds there is always a challenge due to the proximity of the feeder hanging from a corner overhang of the house. The usable shooting area is about foot of travel before lawn furniture, a house, or feeder enters the shot.
I cropped the feeder out of the shot.
Three little bees flew round my head,
Bibi, Bobo, and Buzzette in red
Bibi said, “You smell so sweet!”
Bobo twirled and missed a beat.
Buzzette winked, “You’re quite the sight
Mind if we buzz with you all night?”

Hydrangeas are in bloom while an EF66 leads Train #1096 north towards Tokyo at the S curve in Komekami. In Japan, freight trains operate with one-man crews. Here however, a group of three employees crowd the cab of the EF66 on an engineer certification run.
