The Latin inscription on the banner the angel is holding " Requiem aeternam dona eis Domine"

Another French reference is the Belmont Mausoleum seen in the background. The mausoleum is almost an exact copy of the Chapel of Saint-Hubert designed by Leonardo Da Vinci at the Chateau Amboise in the Loire Valley.

I was fascinated by that thin strand of hair attached to the wing. Surprising that it hasn't broken after being exposed to the elements for over 100 years.

It's always interesting to see how people decorate their family's resting place. I was able to find this cheerful looking bunny for sale online - described as Carotene The Rabbit With Carrots. It's an indoor/outdoor garden statue. The family has customized their statue with the addition of a head dress in Christmas colors and what looks like antlers.

It's very cute.

Sculpture by Ettore Cadorin dated 1921.

After doing further research I find the following information:

This sculpture by Ettore Cadorin was erected for the Karagheusian family in Woodlawn Cemetery. The two women represent the Christian belief that death is a passage from this life to eternal life through resurrection. One figure is presented in a sleep like death which is only temporary while the other figure expresses deliverance and the rapture.

Cemeteries are excellent places for photography. Specially in Autumn.

It´s been raining here for days, almost non-stop. But luckily the rain gave us a break for a couple of hours. So I grabbed my camera and I went straight to the graveyard.

I´ve been trying to photograph this place in several occasions, but I was never able to capture that special atmosphere that cemeteries have .

But yesterday, I found the perfect moment: late evening, a bit rainy, leaves and mushrooms everywhere, and almost no one around.

It will not be the last time I photograph this place :)

The monument to the 3 boys is to the right and is inscribed “Our Fondest Hopes Lie Buried Here! Taken Suddenly In An Hour of Happiness, Struck By A Bolt Of Lighting"

.... Because the doors are perpetually locked, a small window opening offered an interior view of the crypt vault. I took a photograph ....

I came across this stunning tomb by chance, Nestled round the back of St Margaret's in Abbotsley, it is truly one of the best tombs I've come across so far.
