Flying & Talking While on my way to a drop-in pet sitting visit in Murphy, Texas I spied several wild ducks. Took a photograph of this duck while it looks like it was flying and talking.
The unmistakable expression of pleasure and relief on my face as I have resuced the Fuzz once again from his own self impending cranial trauma of leaping to the floor head first and splitting his head wide open.
I Didn`t Ask To Be A Stray.
'With heavy heart and weary paws
I walk the wet streets, shunned, ignored
Thinking of my life before.
Once I had a loving home
But now the cold streets I must roam
Down on my luck and all alone.
Crouching in some hedge by day
Dodging kicks that come my way
Nothing but a hungry stray.
Inside the houses warm and light
Live my cousins - their future bright
While I must cower out of sight.
Can`t you spare a scrap or two?
Or a cosy box in the living room?
Might I come and live with you?.
I`m really friendly, if given a chance -

I really wouldn`t take much space
I`d wash my grimy paws and face

Today is a sad day.
You know me and my friend Fabio, Joker 74, reported about the Former Embassy of Somalia, where a community of young Somali Refugees have been living in harsh conditions in the last years. A solution - at least for part of them - was apparently available, with new structures to host some of them. Meanwhile they had started cleaning a repairing the building.
It seemed almost an happy ending. Almost.
Newspapers and TV news report today of a young girl raped tonight in the Former Embassy by at least three guys. As we were there with Fabio, some of them told us of the difficulty to control the situation and keep the place as safe as possible. There was a little minority of alcohol addicts among them. No place is free from bad people, no situation is free from evil intentions. Unfortunately the evil part of this story had to be written one day.
I have met and talked with those guys more times. I've seen their eyes and their gestures. I can believe that the large majority of them is here in Rome with the best intentions, only wishing for a better life. I am sure the large majority of them would never hurt anyone. I am sure the large majority of them is feeling scorn and anger against those three guys for their criminal act.
Unfortunately, I am sure that media and politics will easily close this story by condemning the whole community. All of them will probably pay the price for this evil act.
Now the building has been cleared. No idea how the story will go on. We will try to get in contact with the NGOs, which helped this community.
Till then, this is the bitter update about the story of the Former Embassy.
I needed a bit of warmth to close this sad day.
