This Fortress was built as a mausoleum for the Emperor Hadrian, but it has also been a prison and a papal residence. It was used by former Popes who absconded there for protection in times of danger. There has been a covered passageway which still connects Castel Sant'Angelo to the Vatican.

1185 - Heinrich von Heidegg is mentioned for the first time. The oldest surviving part of the castle was built around 1192. Today the castle houses a museum and shows changing exhibitions on various topics. At the moment there are photographs of the castle from 1850 - 2020. A 300 year old rose garden is the museum's particular pride.
Captured in the morning when the sun came through the fog.

On a gray day with high fog and little sun, i tried to photograph Mauensee Castle. The castle is privately owned and is located on a small island in lake Mauensee - you cant get there, but you can walk around the lake and see the castel from every side. Of course I was hoping for a few rays of sunshine - but it stayed gray only the fog took a little color.
This is not a black and white photo - although you might think so at first glance.

"Shadows over Herrenstein" was the title of a soap opera on Swiss radio. Somehow the photo corresponds exactly to my inner picture of it.

A true open-air museum, Rome has preserved and enriched its beauty over the centuries. Each corner of the streets reveals a treasure, be it ancient, religious, architectural or even gastronomic. All roads lead to Rome, and one should not resist, simply take it and go, enjoy the beauty and admire the eternal city.

The small house with the white shutters turns her back on the sea, enchased between two enormous rocks, near a splendid pit. Castel Meur became the emblem of Plougrescant, a small village of Côtes d'Armor, since its photo was diffused in the form of postcard in the whole world.
