Come as the final 13 contestants battle it out with their Cartoon and Comicbook characters. They will strut the runway bringing it all to the catwalk in this 2nd Semi Final. We will narrow it down to the top 5 ladies and the final 3 men as they vie for the title of Mr. & Miss Model International 2018.

How to Animate Film Cartoons by Preston Blair (circa 1980)

These three (3) sheets combining original drawings and photo-mechanical reproduction were created by famed animator Preston Blair, likely in development of pages 18, 19 and 20 of his art instruction book How to Animate Film Cartoons, published in 1980 by Walter T. Foster. However, they were not included in that edition, a revised and expanded version of his 1949 Walter Foster book Animation. The new, original drawings in pencil are revisions of those from 1949; they were trimmed and mounted to the larger sheets that reproduce pages 18, 19 and 20 in Animation. The original drawings are shown in four (4) detail images below: a funny sequence of a young man and woman in a "cartoon take," two dogs, goat and donkey.
Preston Blair began his career in animation with Walter Lantz and Charles Mintz in the 1930s before joining the Walt Disney Studio later in that decade. He animated characters for Fantasia (notably Mickey Mouse and Hyacinth Hippo) and also worked on Pinocchio (1940) and Bambi (1942). He left Disney for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer after the 1941 strike. There he joined Fred "Tex" Avery's unit. He is famed for his animation of the sexy nightclub star Red in six of Tex Avery's M-G-M cartoons. In the 1960s he animated at Hanna-Barbera on The Flintstones and in subsequent years was involved in the development and production of animated films and commercials.
Mr. Blair authored a number of art and animation instruction books published by Walter T. Foster. The first, Animation, was published in 1949 and was revised several times into the 1990s. His Cartoon Animation and Animation 1 remain in print today. Walter T. Foster—a well-known artist and teacher—began producing art instruction books from his home in Laguna Beach, California, in the 1930s.
Pictures of the printed pages in the 1949 edition are shown below for reference; however, a copy of the book is not included with this item. These originals are from the estate of Preston Blair, and our certificate of authenticity is included.The larger sheets are lightly discolored with age; the drawings show minor glue discoloration; a small bit missing from left edge of p. 20 does not affect the imagery;

An old drawing from 1985. Pulled from a highschool notebook. I understand that Zoth-Ommog was created by the writer Lin Carter. But I recall drawing this monster after reading a description of it in a Ramsey Campbell story. I think it was in a collection called Cold Print. I must go back and try to find that particular story. If anyone knows, leave a comment!
