Grenada, Caribbean Islands 2015

Bonaire 2017, processed 2020

This day was incredibly calm and the waters were like glass. A dreamlike setting.

The sunset reflects off the Caribbean Sea and the infinity pool at the Oyster Bay Beach Resort in Sint Maarten.

I shot this sunset from the veranda of our friends' house which overlooks Pigeon Island National Park on the lovely southeastern Caribbean island of St. Lucia.

Eng ☼ Who said paradise did not exist? Here you can walk in the fine white sand, bathe in the turquoise and clear water of the Caribbean Sea, observe the coral reef and colorful fish while snorkeling, and you can admire a magnificent palm forest. Isla Saona, a tropical island, south-east of Dominican Republic, province of La Altagracia. You take a boat to get there for an unforgettable experience ... it's the Paraíso ☼

Taking a break from Flickr for the next week - going to Connecticut so we can visit Wanda's family. Looking for suggestions on good places to photograph in Connecticut if anyone has any experience in the area. Be back soon!

This trip to St. Lucia, we stayed with our friends (We were getting tired of winter.); this was shot from the veranda of their house. Pigeon Island is a national park that's now connected to the main island by a causeway.

I've spent a lot of time in St. Lucia and continue to go back, so I'm always posting more pictures of this beautiful Caribbean island. Click this link to see my full album www.flickr.com/photos/tpridemore/albums/72157625551418563

Image taken in Batalie Bay, Dominica Island, 2013.

... which is what I'd like to have - especially here!

Love all the shades of blue found here. This was taken at Coki Beach, where we enjoyed the best snorkeling while on St. Thomas.

What if it's already mid October? Somewhere it's still summer. Or maybe I should say it's still beach weather. So here's a pretty nice beach in the Carribbean. Another shot take at the famous Baby beach in Aruba. Not sure if someone put these branches there on purpose or if that's an actual divi divi tree that died but it worked out really well from a photographic perspective.

I know I'm milking this sunrise for all it's worth, but it's not everyday I get to see the day's first light on a tropical island, so...

Early morning on the pool deck…

HFF!

Sunrise off the coast of Belize.

This represented a new southernmost extreme for me, edging out my prior southern extreme of Ponce, Puerto Rico (2013). My easternmost extreme of Tokyo, Japan (1972) and westernmost extreme of Kaena Point State Park, Oahu, Hawaii (2014) will both be hard to beat anytime in the near future. For my northernmost extreme, that goes to Kiel, Germany (1981). That would be the extreme that require the shortest distance (if I go directly north) to beat....

Located on the grounds of Hilton Barbados is Charles Fort, a fort erected at Needham’s Point in 1650 by the British Military as a defense against attack from its enemies, and to protect Carlisle Bay.

Charles Fort is the largest fort on the island and was originally called Needham’s Fort. It is also part of the Garrison Historic Area.

Enjoy your Thursday!

St. Thomas can be a bit crowded, but it does have a few more secluded places where there's a good chance you can be alone. This is one of those places.

Enjoying a walk on the beach before the crowds arrived.

Thankfully it didn't stay that way long though!

A great place to view Charlotte Amalie can be found in the hills above the city (Charlotte Amalie Overlook). I found it by accident just driving around. Sometimes I prepare for a shot, and other times I just get plain lucky.

Watching the sunset in Sint Maarten / Saint Martin from Maho Beach's Sunset Bar & Grill. I called the rock "Iguana

rock" but I don't know if it survived the hurricane. The gazebo definitely didn't. The Sonesta Maho Resort where the gazebo is received heavy damage from the huricane. They were in the process of repairing or rebuilding it last I checked. This is a great spot to watch the sunset and the ships heading to sea. Plane watching is a must. #SintMaarten #St.Martin #sunset #MahoBeach #MahoBay #Sonnenuntergang #CoucherDuSoleil #silhouette #orange #Insel #l'île

Monarch Butterflies are great social travelers. Huge flights of thousands migrate from North America all the way down to Mexico, once even to South America, more than 3000 miles! I suppose the ones in our Zoo derive from Butterfly breeding firms. Still, they retain their love for the nectar of frilly, bright Pride of Barbados flowers, also imported here from the Caribbean. On a drab day like today's, a wonderful sight in the Butterfly House of ARTIS.

This is the same view as a photo I posted two days ago. That one was during the day, this one during the blue hour.
