Index cards, for Macro Mondays, theme: Card.

I had a short search about the house and garage but I couldn't find any interesting items for the theme. I then thought of a paper flower that I had prepared before and I then started folding. At first I was a little disappointed but when I got up close and used gold and silver reflectors with a ringlight I managed to get something that pleased me. I kept the focus sharp on the zigzags and angled the gold card on the silver base to produce a flame like glow.

Happy Beautiful Bug Butt Thursday everyone, off here for several days, I'll try and catch up when I return. Stay safe my friends. ;0)

Carder-bees are to be found in long meadow grass, where they gather moss and form a snuggy ball shaped nest. When disturbed some bees will fly out and make an aerial display, while those in the nest perform a communal buzzzz. They're telling you to back off and can sting, but only if you persist in annoying them.

Most people come upon Carder-bee nests when trying to clear an overgrown garden and especially when cutting long meadow grass.

Carder-bee nests can be moved but it is far better to leave them in place, if possible. You can finish the garden work at the end of the summer when the bees have finished. These bees are mild tempered and are usually a pleasure to have in a garden. They will not return to the same spot the following year.

Woman's Head-Leonardo da Vinci drawing (reproduction) on a card.

◾Leonardo da Vinci created this delightful drawing in the year 1473, in the very beginning of his career as an artist. It portrays a woman’s head leaning to the left side, and it was produced in ink on paper. As it’s the case of most of the ink-on-paper drawings, this piece rarely comes to public exhibition, for the vulnerability of its media. It is currently part of the amazing collection of Uffizi gallery, in Florence. ◾

Monopoly Card - the game that goes on and on and on and . . . .

I think its a carder, but not sure!

This is part of a card distributed to visitors to the School of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at Georgia Tech. It shows microneedles used for drug delivery being held between thumb and forefinger. A flash drive unfolds from the top of the card.

focos luminosos.

Bancos inhospitalarios,

húmedos

expulsan de su borde

a los emigrantes soñolientos.

Oyendo fáciles arengas ciudadanas,

un prócer,

inmóvil sobre su columna

se hiela en su bronce”

I think this is a Common Carder bee but stand to be corrected.

Macro Monday's and the theme of "Card".

This week I struggled a bit for a few ideas until I had the thought of using sheets of A4 card to represent blades of a lens aperture.

I originally found coloured sheets which I planned to use but they were thin and more like paper than card but I had Black and White card so I chose to use these alternately in the setup.

As it was just a simple image I decided to use my flashgun which I placed onto the card and shot from the top right of the frame to show off the textures in the cards.

I placed a red sheet of paper underneath the whole setup which would show up through the "Aperture".

This is a Christmas card my mum bought for us a couple of years ago. It's so beautiful I've never had the heart to throw it away and with a couple of red Christmas lights inside, it illuminates the scene very nicely and has become part of our ever increasingly elaborate decorations.
