I think someone should inspect the inspection stations. If you fell through that cracked window, you could break a leg, put your eye out or get pneumonia. At least those were the three things my mother always worried about. “Don’t walk on the edge of the curb. You could break a leg. Put on a sweater. You will get pneumonia.” I was always waiting for her to say, “Put down the pencil (so I didn’t have to do homework). You could put your eye out.” But it was only the fun things that got the admonishments.

I don’t like to be critical, but the red, white and blue valances in the window are now orange, gray and blue. I think after 25 years it is time for a little redecorating. I do like the big modern Coke machine with the selection of plastic bottles. It is not as good as the frosty glass bottles, but at least it will wet your whistle!

The dark, cavernous hall of Wisconsin Central’s car shop at Shops Yard in North Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on a quiet Saturday of October 8, 1994. Looks like a boxcar and a bulkhead flat are among gondolas getting work done at the time.

The american dream of my childhood

No question that this shop would be closed down in Germany.

Neukölln is one of the twelve boroughs of Berlin. It is located in the southeastern part from the city centre towards Berlin Schönefeld Airport. It was part of the former American sector under the Four-Power occupation of the city. It features many Gründerzeit buildings and is characterized by having one of the highest percentage of immigrants in Berlin. In recent years an influx of students and creative types has led to gentrification.

On Christmas Eve when Nick got the call to tow a broken down car from highway 287 he knew he was in for a long night. The young family were on the way from California to Texas in a hurry so that their three young children could wake up Christmas morning at Grandma's.

Being Nicks first Holliday alone he actually welcomed the reason to work through the night. His plans of watching Christmas movies and drinking too many beers would have to wait. Hell he may even spread the seasons cheer and not charge for the repairs.

Merry Christmas

Special thanks to owner, Shawn Driver of Drivers Welding, for allowing me to take this photo.

Sooke, BC Canada

They are a full service welding, fabrication and repair shop. Founded by Shawn Driver in 1985, it is located in Sooke on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC.

While the company is known for the quality of their welding and fabrication, they also excel in a few other areas as well. Drivers stocks steel, aluminum, and stainless that can be cut to any length you want right in the shop

They also provide mobile welding services and make steel deliveries from Victoria to Port Renfrew.

The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Car shop at Alliance, Nebraska, has the task of keeping many of the hoppers and gondolas used in grueling Powder River Basin coal service in good repair. I was amazed at how expeditiously they could change out a truck on AEPX gon No. 5029 on July 21, 2003.
