This picture is very emotional and personal. It hits close to home because of its simplification and the delivery of the message. I would like to point out the contrast in the picture, which makes this photo-secret so powerful. The simple white background contrasts heavily with the black handwriting and pink cancer ribbon.
The fact that the handwriting is written out and not printed also adds to the card on a personal level. It is a very simple statement: "I'm afraid of the cancer coming back." However, this can be thought of in many different forms. Is she afraid for her mother? Or perhaps another loved one, or even herself? The viewer cannot be too sure, however, it is certain that she has a fear which is personal and detrimental to her happiness.
The placement of the cancer ribbon tells the viewer that this is a central fear in the author's life, and signals many meanings. He or She cannot enjoy life because of her fear, and the fear is a central part in the author's life right now.
I hope whoever the author is can get over this fear, and learn to once again enjoy the world.
