Hi, thank you everyone who has sent me messages of support. Obviously due to me recovering I have not been on here much lately but now that I am recovering I intend being here much more frequently. The operation was a success, kidney and cancer tumor has been removed, the surgeon also took three lymph nodes and some fatty tissue that was in the area around it.
I am going to be taking part in a drug trial for an immunotherapy drug which is designed to help prevent the cancer from returning and I have an appointment at the Beatson Oncology Centre in about 4 weeks to get that started.
I am physically feeling great, much more so than I have done for a very long time, mentally I am dealing with some low mood and anxiety but that is also part of the journey. I am looking forward to getting back to my favourite hills and mountains in the next few weeks as I continue my recovery. Well, so long as there is no further lockdowns to prevent me from doing so.
I hope that you are doing well and again for the support and messages received directly, I thank you. Looking at your photos here on Flickr has been a great help during my recovery.
This is for all cancer fighters, survivors, and their caregivers. You are all beautifully strong. You have my utmost love and respect. If you are in the middle of it; please hold on, and keep fighting it, one moment at a time. Love you all. ♥

Hello to all my Flickr friends. It has been a difficult few weeks since my last upload. This was sadly due to losing my brother at the end of November after a long battle with cancer, so please forgive me for not being on Flickr.
I hope that you all had a great Christmas, and i would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the wonderful comments and support over the last 12 mouths.
Best wishes to you all for 2025.
Regards, Ray.

This is for someone in my extended family who has been battling cancer. I don't know how to help and am at a loss. Please help send positive thoughts and love to comfort them. Thank you.
the doctors always refer to the radiation treatments as the easy part of the cancer treatment... i guess nothing is easy about cancer... after 28 treatments over 5.5 weeks... the radiation did its job as you can see by the nasty red burn... the good news is that v finished the radiation treatments on tuesday... so the cancer has officially had its butt kicked... YAY!! all that's left is cosmetic reconstruction... v&i meet with her plastic surgeon in a few weeks... he'll assess the radiation damage and determine when he can complete the reconstruction... it will likely be this fall...
we plan to do a little celebrating this weekend... (and if you look closely... v's hair is making a nice comeback!!)

Câncer
Vamos chorar?
-Aquele dia você não me ofereceu pastel. Você é egoísta, não pensa nos outros.
E você fica ali pasmado, tentando entender aquilo.
Rsrsrsrsrsrrsrsrrs.
Bell 1) Breast cancer 2012.
Bell 2) sternum 2015.
Bell 3) spine 2016 today.
This journey is not over. I will always have to go through radiation treatments whenever one of the tumors acts up. I'm still going through chemo.
With Pep by my side, and so many goals to fulfill, I will keep on fighting for as long as I can. A friend shared this with me today, something I needed a reminder of.

The Cardrona bras fence, for a long time was a source of controversy, locals deeming that this fence was a blot in the landscape and a shame for the region. However, this fence is so photographed that it has become the symbol of women's fight against breast cancer. We could not remain insensitive to this cause ...
More than 1600 bras ... plus one ...
This is my daughter, Jill. She was diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer when she was 3 years old. I posted this picture to honor her. Jill was a fighter through her surgery and then continued the battle with chemo and radiation treatments. She is an inspiration to us and we are extremely thankful that we still have her with us! ...Never stop smiling! :)

With over 3 million women battling breast cancer today, everywhere you turn there is a mother, daughter, sister, or friend who has been affected by breast cancer.

This past summer while recovering from my cancer treatments I couldn’t travel, was homebound and pretty much quarantined as I lost my immune system. I was forced to focus on what was around me, in my own backyard. Since nature, macro, and landscape is my forte’, I was able to adjust my thinking and find what nature had to offer me right here, in my yard. I’ve used my iPhone 15 Pro for all my images as my rotator cuff tore a 3rd time leaving little use of my right arm and shoulder, a total shoulder replacement on the horizon! I met this lady whilst out on a photo walk. She was homeless, had advanced throat caner, and was in a bad way. I took her picture, bought her a coffee and a chocolate bar. We chatted for a bit and then I had to leave. That was about 6 years ago now. I doubt she is still alive. Very sad.

October is breast cancer month.Breast cancer is a disease that has many forms and affects both men and women. The cancer not only affects the people diagnosed with it, but the families of those loved ones. Many people lose their family members and friends to this horrid disease. Many people acknowledge that breast cancer exists, and accept the fact that it exists. Its time we acknowledge the problem and reject its existence. Its existence is not okay as it not only harms people’s bodies, but takes their lives away. It is time to do something. Sadly, research is expensive.
Throughout this month, this blog will post facts about breast cancer and post pictures that can be bought. The money that the pictures collect will go towards breast cancer research and awareness funds. The prints can be bought at any price you wish to donate ( minimum 6$). If you are interested in donating, leave a message in the ask box or flickr message me and I will get back to you with more details. It is time to do something about this disease. It is time to put an end to its reign of terror. It is time to act.
Ingrid's leukemia diagnosis came days after her mom and I started corresponding- about sourdough bread of all things- on Facebook. We have a mutual friend, and she connected us because we live only about a mile apart. We've emailed on and off the past four months as Ingrid has been in and out of the hospital and bravely faced chemo and side effects and many, many challenges.
We've planned to do photos since the beginning but literally every time we've scheduled them Ingrid has ended up in the hospital. Today the stars finally aligned, and I had the privilege of documenting this stunning family. Ingrid was excited to be outside. Brother Klaus was excited to share his love of music with me, and I got to meet a family of superheroes in the midst of a tough journey, living every day with courage. If you're the praying type, say one for sweet Ingrid tonight.

It hurts me to even look at this photo. In it, we had hoped to convey the pain and strength that Cancer causes. The boxing aspect represents the fight and determination required to battle cancer. The tears are to represent the toll doing so takes on our mental health.
Outside of the obvious physical health problems, cancer is utterly soul destroying. The battle itself is horrendous. At its worst, it can rob sufferers of their lives in the cruellest way possible. It puts the people that love them under enormous pressure as they try to find a strength they didn't know they had to support their loved ones the best way they know how, whilst also feeling completely helpless to do anything of real value to help them.
This shoot was done last year and I dyed the ends of my hair red for the sole purpose of showing anger for this concept in a visual sense. I was and continue to be so incredibly angry - for all of the people that are put in this position through no fault of their own. I am sorry for your pain. So incredibly sorry.
One day at a time.
