This time I made sure I had the entire Horseshoe (Canadian Falls) in my viewfinder. I am on the 27nth floor of the Fallsview Resort in the Canadian city of "Niagara Falls". There is also an American city with the name "Niagara Falls" on American soil to the left of our image. The taller building in the lower right is the "Table Rock Welcome Center". The "Maid of the Mist" boat is one of North America’s oldest tourist attractions, ridden by dignitaries and celebrities such as Princess Diana, Marilyn Monroe and Brad Pitt.
Thanks.
Stopped by Niagara Falls while we were up in Syracuse this summer. This was the view, the US Falls in the front and the Canadian Falls in the back. The blue folks are wearing their blue thin plastic ponchos that they receive with their ticket to ride the Maid of the Mist boat which you can see by the US Falls. The Canadian version is called the Hornblower and boards on the Canadian side, you can see one of the boats up by the Canadian Falls.
In the winter of 2006, massive icicles adorned the cliffs beside the Canadian Horseshoe Falls at Niagara Falls, creating a stunning natural spectacle.
we would be able to put all the information into a computer and would come out with a masterpiece. We know that's impossible. You have to compose by the seat of your pants :-)

Horseshoe Falls is the largest of the three waterfalls that collectively form Niagara Falls on the Niagara River along the Canada–United States border. Approximately 90% of the Niagara River, after diversions for hydropower generation, flows over Horseshoe Falls. The remaining 10% flows over American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. It is located between Terrapin Point on Goat Island in the US state of New York, and Table Rock in the Canadian province of Ontario These falls are also referred to as the Canadian Falls
My previous post was about something man made that was overwhelming and it felt like a modern wonder. This post is about something quite old and nature made. I am sure most of you by now will have recognized the famous Niagara Falls. What you might not know is that Niagara Falls is actually a group of 3 waterfalls and this one is the Horseshoe fall, also known as Canadian falls. With a total height of 51m and a total width of 820 this waterfall is very impressive. Ranking 7th largest waterfall in terms of flow rate, Niagara Falls sits at the end of a gorge and the river is a drain from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie. If you ever find yourself visiting that area of US, don't miss a chance to cross the boarder in Canada to have a better look of the waterfall and also, do the "Maid of the Mist" boat tour. But aside from the touristic attractions, I believe anyone that sees this wonder will be mesmerized by its beauty and will also be stunned by nature can be so strong yet so harmonic. Happy new week everybody!

Elora Gorge, Ontario, Canada.
This was taken last Fall, on a cold, windy and rainy day. It was quite a climb down. The rocks were slippery.
I recently spent some time at Niagara Falls in Ontario, Canada. I had never seen the falls and at mid-life they were something to cross off the bucket list. Let's just say that they are as awe inspiring as people tell you they are! Just incredible, and I highly recommend the trip to those who have never been. I am sure this shot has been taken literally a million times. The Maid of the Mist is the American tourist boat that takes passengers right up to the base of the falls. I took this ride on the Canadian equivalent Hornblower boat. At this close range, the power of the water raging over the edge and slamming into the river below is just wicked. The sound is deafening. Please view large for a little slice of the Canadian Falls at Niagara.
Thanks for stopping by ~
Just after sunrise, a cold light settle over Horseshoe Falls - further accentuating the already frozen landscape. You just had to take a minute to absorb it all - until your fingers froze and the mitts had to go back on.
Aptly named "Maid of the Mist", the boat overloaded with tourists in thin plastic slickers heads into the mist at the Horseshoe Falls (Canadian Falls). The boat travels amazingly close to the base of the falls, and the tourists get a drenching from the heavy misty shower.
By afternoon, there is usually enough of a breeze to blow the mist onto the tourists standing along the topside sidewalks on the Canadian side of the falls (to the right ), dampening their clothes and coating their expensive cameras.
There are two major waterfalls at Niagara Falls, the American Falls and Horseshoe Falls (Canadian Falls).
It has been a long time since I posted an image to flickr. Basically I have been taking a sabbatical from photography since the beginning of June. It was a much needed rest as my inspiration and creativity were at a a low point. I attribute this to running four years hard chasing birds and other wildlife hundreds of miles. I have now recharged my batteries and will be back on the hunt. I know I have neglected many of your photostreams and wonderful photography. I too will be back posting and commenting on images. Enough said! I hope you enjoy this Rainbow Abyss taken at Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. Nary a crop except for minor straightening.
Thank you for stopping by!
I had a absolutely wonderful holiday in Toronto, Niagara and New York with Mick and Sue. :-))
I was delighted to see the American Falls at Niagara from my hotel room!! The massive ice blocks in front of the American Falls are simply amazing...
Tourists on the Journey Behind the Falls tour at Niagara are dwarfed by the Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls.

Niagara Falls... The American Falls is one of three waterfalls that together are known as Niagara Falls on the Niagara River along the Canada–U.S. border.
Unlike the much larger Horseshoe Falls, of which two-thirds of the falls is located in Ontario,
Canada, and one-third in the US state of New York, the American Falls is entirely within the United States and New York.
