Do Canadian geese leave their babies?
They will never abandon their goslings, even under intense pressure and threats to their lives. If the parent geese do fly off, it is only a strategic ploy to allow the goslings to escape by taking advantage of their speed, agility, and ability to hide in small places. The parent geese always return.
Thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - very much appreciated.

We only have one home planet and we must take care of it. Let's work together to protect the Earth.
Taken from my camping spot with my horses last Fall. My favourite place on Earth.
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me
Where troubles melt like lemon drops
Away above the chimney tops
That's where you'll find me
Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly
Birds fly over the rainbow
Why then, oh why can't I?
I better get my head out of the clouds and go clean my barn ;-)
An enjoyable walk through the Watermeads Nature Reserve alongside the river Wandle. The Watermeads or “water meadows” were amongst first properties acquired by the National Trust. Following extensive rehabilitation programme to reintroduce water meadows to support natural habitat the reserve has been reopened recently for the public. It is one of many little green gems in the middle of the big city. I was attracted by the clarity of the fast-flowing river when a lonely Canada goose (Branta canadensis) wondered into the frame. Athabasca Falls is a waterfall on the upper Athabasca River, approximately 30 kilometres south of the townsite of Jasper, Alberta. End of September, the river level was lower than it would be in the spring. The turquoise waters of the Athabasca River simply sparkle in the sunlight, especially downstream through the short canyon. The photo was taken just involving a bit of river on the right side, focusing on the rocky mountain…
These two pirates, I mean Canada Geese made a quick get away after consuming almost a whole bag of corn meant for the parents and goslings I was photographing.
The Prince Edward Point Lighthouse, built in 1881, is a squaretapered wooden lighthouse with an attached dwelling. The lighthouse is located on the eastern tip of Prince Edward Point, Ontario. Besides the combined 7.8-metre (26 foot) lighthouse and keeper’s residence, the lightstation also includes a detached shed. The lighthouse was automated in 1941 and operated until 1959 when it was replaced by a steel skeleton tower.
The lighthouse is associated with various shipwrecks that occurred in this area, colloquially called the “Graveyard of Lake Ontario”.
The Prince Edward Point Lighthouse supported the shipping industry, marking a safe avenue for commercial ships travelling through the waters of Lake Ontario for nearly 80 years. The lighthouse marks the only protected harbour for a distance of approximately 60 nautical miles.
Prince Edward Point Lighthouse was recognized as a Heritage Lighthouse in 2015. (Parks Canada)

The end of the trail at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory, the lighthouse is a good spot to look for sea ducks during migration, as well as gulls and cormorants. Over 300 species of birds have been recorded on the trails and lake.

Finally I managed to find and photograph my nemesis in the open for a few split seconds! These are among my favourite birds, that necklace is absolutely stunning!
A pair of goslings was accompanying their parents in Tom McCall Waterfront Park while I was on my walk. I think they're so cute at this age!
The flooding of the meadows in the "Assebroekse Meersen" offers places to swim as well as rest for these Canada geese and other water fowl.
Oh Canada - Emerald Lake Perfection, Yoho National Park, Rockies, Canada - No apologies for airing this once again, it takes me back to times when we were allowed to travel.
