We were out very early this morning to get you a few Canada Day photos.
In several of the fields alongside the Prescott-Russell Trail the grass has been cut and baled, so we had a great time playing ball in the shortened grass.
Here I'm taking a break on a bale. I got up all by myself, and Dad called me a bale-jumper!

An enjoyable walk through the Watermeads Nature Reserve alongside the river Wandle. The Watermeads or “water meadows” were amongst first properties acquired by the National Trust. Following extensive rehabilitation programme to reintroduce water meadows to support natural habitat the reserve has been reopened recently for the public. It is one of many little green gems in the middle of the big city. I was attracted by the clarity of the fast-flowing river when a lonely Canada goose (Branta canadensis) wondered into the frame. It is said, “Canadian contributes the Banff and Jasper National Parks to the world, but keeps the Kananaskis park for themselves”. Kananaskis park is a provincial park, not as famous as Banff and Jasper. But there is comparable Rocky Mountains and lakes. It is a very quiet place, no people around, nice trails to walk around the lakes and mountains, really enjoyed the most at this peaceful and quiet place! The photo was taken on the backyards of the camping sites. The walks were great with awesome views of the lakes from the back of camping sites.
These two pirates, I mean Canada Geese made a quick get away after consuming almost a whole bag of corn meant for the parents and goslings I was photographing.
A pair of goslings was accompanying their parents in Tom McCall Waterfront Park while I was on my walk. I think they're so cute at this age!
These are among my favourite birds, inquisitive, interesting and so expressive, they are such a joy to photograph and watch in the north! Only the smartest birds can survive in such conditions, and the Canada Jay is certainly among the most intelligent.
The flooding of the meadows in the "Assebroekse Meersen" offers places to swim as well as rest for these Canada geese and other water fowl.
Oh Canada - Emerald Lake Perfection, Yoho National Park, Rockies, Canada - No apologies for airing this once again, it takes me back to times when we were allowed to travel.
