Good evening everyone. Taken today on a lovely autumn walk along the beautiful Godalming canal Surrey
The Sayaca Tanager is widely distributed across South America, ranging from eastern Brazil and Bolivia to northern Argentina. It prefers open woodlands, gardens, and urban spaces, adapting well to human presence. Its diet consists of fruits, seeds, and insects, and it often forages in small flocks. While Sayaca Tanagers usually have a calm demeanor, this photograph reveals an unusual display of anger towards another tanager.

Beaulieu river, Hampshire. Taken on a very misty and calm morning, I love serene river scenes. On this particular morning there wasn't a ripple on the waters surface, so the reflections were lovely.
just another sunset shot from april 1.
this one including some trees:)

East Portland night shoot reflection under the steel bridge on the Willamette River.
Thank you for your visit, comments and faves!!
I didn't realize I'd forgotten to post this. It's taken from the nearby Kits Beach looking towards English Bay and, as you see by the trees, the world-famous Stanley Park. You can even see the peaks of the Stanley Park Bridge towards the center of the shot. I walked here and took a deep breath to prepare for the first day working from home because of the hideous COVID-19. Everything was strangely foreboding and yet so beautifully calm..... How lovely of Nature to bring a moment of serenity as encouragement to hold on, stay strong, and stay safe.

An early start to arrive at Butermere before sunrise and I was rewarded with a totally calm lake surface and rather nice sky.
What appears tranquil and calm really isn't. Between the noise from traffic on US 2, the water rushing through the dam, and the noise from the various paper mill machinery from Verso, the calm is only visible on the smooth water. Preparing to stop and work Verso, CN A451 crosses over the Escanaba River that is unusually calm and casts a near perfect reflection.
Photographed at Maffitt Lake near Cumming, Iowa.

Close encounters with wildlife can vary wildly in the levels of adrenaline or dopamine that are released during the interaction. I have had a few adrenaline heavy experiences and, in general, I can say I prefer the dopamine encounters. Feeling pleased or happy with the visit, or even the sighting, of wild animals is a big reason why I go out and take photos. Fight or flight situations can certainly be more memorable and make for great stories, but in the moment the photo opportunity might come in second behind personal safety.
My encounter with this nonchalant, young red fox definitely provided a nice hit of dopamine. The pleasure of watching and photographing it was so satisfying. I don't have a photo from when a black bear charged me, years ago (I had my camera), but the adrenaline did kick in and I am still around to photograph encounters like this calmly curious fox!!
