I had the honoring of capturing my best friends 40th birthday party.

This was our cake table, if you couldn't tell. And that's my Granny in the background there. The cake was one of the best parts of our wedding.

This was attempt number 2 as the first one lasted about 10 seconds.. I'd never made one before and it was FABULOUS.

Cheapskate, austere, economic. Victorian cookbooks FTW.. Don't throw your slighly stale bread away, turn it into puddings and fabulous cakes :domo:

It wasn't really my dad's birthday, it was my brother's. But my dad looked so misrable. I never asked him why though. But I think to see your child getting old means you are getting old with him and it makes you sad..

I pimped this brownie with a orange cognac on the bottom half, an orange icing and a homemade # from chocolate. Dust off with icing sugar and cocoa.

The pistachio cake recipe and special cake pan were handed to me from my Gram. She made this cake for over 40 years for family parties.
