When I was a kiddie (some say I still am one, but that's another story), "Gumdrop" was an old Austin 12 in the picturebook of the same name by the late Val Biro. Seems that over the past 40 years, "Gumdrop" has grown up a bit and become a Czech Setra ...

Amtrak train 6, the westbound 'California Zephyr', pulls into Track 3 at Sacramento Valley Station. It has just three station stops behind it to the west (Emeryville/Oakland, Richmond, Martinez and Davis, California) and will spend the better part of the next two days on its trek to Chicago by way of Reno, Salt Lake City, Denver and Omaha. To the right, a Capitol Corridor service waits to depart for Oakland and San Jose. Representative of the many state offices present here, the building rising in the background across the I-5 freeway (and the river, unseen) houses the California State Teachers' Retirement System.
I obtained this as a non-runner for £15.00 but it had no wiring loom or battery. I made a wiring loom and installed a battery and it became a nice little run around for six months. I later sold it for £350.00 so a tidy profit. This photo is from around 1993.
Due to a 48-hour curfew on the Mendota Sub to replace a total of 4 bridges, Amtrak detoured the Southwest Chief and the California Zephyr via BNSF's Chillicothe Sub. While the SW Chief is no stranger to this route, having been diverted to the Mendota Sub when the Cameron Connection was completed, the CZ shown here is riding new territory.
After pulling into Galesburg for its reguler station stop, the CZ backed into the yard and utilized the Coach Yard Wye to head west to Cameron and then east on the Chilli Sub to Joliet where it would use the CN to downtown Chicago.
