How to open an AMD K5 with the soldered DIE-cap? Blow torch! :-) But this K5 was defective anyway. BTW: It was the one and only defective CPU since 25 years which hadn't a crumbled DIE but really an error in the 1st level cache.
The remains of a broken CPU-fan for a Pentium I - CPU. IT was one of those coolers with a peltier element IIRC.

The old cooler was very noisy. I have taken the fan off here. It was the standard cooler included with the Sempron CPU I bought back in 2006. It had gathered quite a bit of dust.
