19. jūnijā Ādažu bāzē notika svinīgā NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupas sagaidīšanas ceremonija, kurā karavīrus uzrunāja Valsts prezidents Raimonds Vējonis, NATO ģenerālsekretārs Jenss Stoltenbergs (Jens Stoltenberg), Latvijas aizsardzības ministrs Raimonds Bergmanis un Kanādas aizsardzības ministrs Hardžits Sadžans (Harjit Sajjan).
Svinīgajā sagaidīšanas ceremonijā piedalījās arī Saeimas priekšsēdētāja Ināra Mūrniece, Nacionālo bruņoto spēku komandieris ģenerālmajors Leonīds Kalniņš, Ministru kabineta pārstāvji, citas augsta līmeņa Latvijas amatpersonas un diplomātiskā korpusa pārstāvji.
Tāpat NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupas sagaidīšanā piedalījās NATO Sabiedroto spēku augstākās virspavēlniecības Eiropā komandiera vietnieks ģenerālis Džeimss Everards (James Everard) un NATO pavēlniecību vadība, Kanādas Bruņoto spēku komandieris ģenerālis Džonatans Vānss (Jonathan H. Vance) un Kanādas vadītās kaujas grupas dalībvalstu bruņoto spēku komandieri.
Svinīgās ceremonijas laikā notika militārā parāde, kurā piedalījās Kanādas, Albānijas, Itālijas, Polijas, Slovēnijas, Spānijas un Latvijas bruņoto spēku vienības.
Notika arī Valsts prezidenta Raimonda Vējoņa, NATO ģenerālsekretāra Jensa Stoltenberga, kā arī Latvijas aizsardzības ministra Raimonda Bergmaņa un Kanādas aizsardzības ministra Hardžita Sadžana preses konference.
NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes kaujas grupas sagaidīšanas ceremonija Ādažu bāzē noslēdza NATO daudznacionālo bataljona līmeņa kaujas grupu izvietošanu Baltijas valstīs un Polijā.
NATO paplašinātās klātbūtnes Latvijā kaujas grupu vadīs Kanāda, un to veidos vairāk nekā 1000 karavīru no Albānijas, Itālijas, Kanādas, Polijas, Slovēnijas un Spānijas.
Pērn NATO samitā Varšavā NATO valstu un valdību vadītāji apstiprināja vienošanos par daudznacionālo bataljona līmeņa kaujas grupu izvietošanu Igaunijā, Latvijā, Lietuvā un Polijā. Kaujas grupu izveides un izvietošanas mērķis ir veicināt NATO īstenoto atturēšanu un stiprināt alianses aizsardzību.
