This is my neighbor, CJ. Impressive, isn't he? He weighs almost twice what I do, so as you can see, I have to be careful when we play. He's a gentle giant, but doesn't know his own strength sometimes. We found him and his dad up on the Trail and spent a few minutes dogging around before we said goodbye and headed off into the snow.

Lots of it last night, and it will be snowing off and on for most of the day, with some areas of Ontario receiving up to about 30cm.

The thirty-year daily average for Ottawa is 175, but we've had about 265 already this year, and that's without counting today.

In 2008 322 fell into this city, but Dad remembers 1971 when Ottawa was buried in 357cm. That's 140 inches of snow!

Almost 1 year ago I found my first one of these Weevils from the Rhinotia genus and not much has changed.

I am blessed that it decided to sit still long enough for this portrait.

Enkele maanden terug boekte ik een reis naar Zwitserland om treinen in de sneeuw te fotograferen, achteraf had dat momenteel in Nederland ook wel gekund, maar goed. De reis begon zondagavond wederom met Nightjet 403 naar Basel. In Utrecht liep de trein reeds een uur vertraging op door problemen met de deurvrijgave, maar we waren gelukkig weer op tijd in Basel SBB. Vanaf Basel ging ik verder richting het kanton Jura, daar rijdt de Chemins de fer de Jura zowel op normaal- als smalspoor reizigers- en goederentreinen. het doel was de dagelijkse vuiltrein, die bestaat uit twee slagen naar Bellevue, één vanuit Glovelier en één vanuit Tavannes.

De CJ 617 is op 5 januari met twee vierassers en twee twee-assers en in totaal zes beladen vuilcontainers als G 1228 onderweg van Glovelier naar Bellevue. Om 9:56 passeert de trein de halte Muriaux, waar treinen alleen op aanvraag stoppen. De omgeving is gehuld in een mooi laagje sneeuw en de meeste bomen zijn nog fraai gekristaliseerd.

De goederentreinen op het smalspoornet rijden meestal met één van de drie motorwagens Be 4/4 die van de Frauenfeld-Wil-Bahn overgenomen zijn, sporadisch komt ook nog weleens een ouder voertuig voor. CJ is echter bezig met de overname van motorwagens van de Berner-Oberland-Bahn.
