Here is the dessert course from my birthday dinner for one last week. It's a bosc pear poached in sugar with saffron and vanilla topped with chocolate ganache. The gold leaf was added to fancy it up even though I was the only one eating it.
So for my birthday lunch I chose afternoon tea. I was so excited for it, but it didn't turn out like I expected. Not everyone wanted afternoon tea - if I'd known only 3 out of 8 people were going to have it I would have chosen another restaurant. The staff were not helpful. One person ordered the choice of tea and they just brought that out....didn't bother to check if we all wanted it. So I didn't have one drink during the whole meal. As the staff never came over to see if we were ok or wanted more drinks. Absolutely terrible.
The bread on the sandwiches was stale and hard....
Had to scrape off the pink frosting and the cream on the tiny choc cake....menu states a lot more then this. This was also for 3 people. My friend went the week before to manchester hilton, his tier was amazing. More then what we had with proper cakes not a fairy cake with frosting on top.
Urgh malt loaf coated in thick butter. Only ate it after I scraped the butter of it and because they gave us all meat sandwiches....
Birthday Lunch - very disappointing experience. This place came highly recommended too. I will definitely not be recommending it to anyone.
