The Clifton Suspension Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Avon Gorge and the River Avon, linking Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset. Since opening in 1864, it has been a toll bridge, the income from which provides funds for its maintenance. The bridge is built to a design by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw,[2] based on an earlier design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. It is a grade I listed building and forms part of the B3129 road.

This cloud to ground (CG) discharge was the last of a 15 minute period of strikes that saw just one lightning strike per minute on average. This frame was only 0.25s at f/5.6, iso 500, with focal length of 35mm cropped sensor. Fujifilm X-T3, 16-55mm f/2.8 lens in movie mode (4fps). This image was also cropped from original.
Part of the test printing for Common Ground which has a three month non-selling exhibition in the Southampton City Art Gallery during the winter of 2017/18.

A thunderstorm's last gasp late on September 4th, before it died out completely. It might not be obvious at first, but this lightning bolt exits the storm near the top, indicating a positive cloud-to-ground strike, which is something I've been trying to capture this summer. They can be 10 times more potent than a negative lightning strike. Super nice to randomly get it on a storm that didn't last too long.
