The Poor Blacksmith was the son of an even poorer pig farmer who worked for the Lord, who provided protection for a small fee and some pigs. The Smith worked hard all his childhood to help his father try to gain the Lord's trust and friendship by supplying fat pigs. Many years after his father died, the Poor Smith sold his farm to the Lord and built a small Blacksmith shop near the Lord's keep. One day the Lord came to collect his payment and noticed a mace towards the back of the shop and asked to see it. He loved this mace and told the Smith that payments weren't needed any more. He then told the Smith that he would build him a new forge in his keep and a new home as well.
