I've been in to phonebank for governor Gregoire and senator Obama a few times over the past couple weeks. This week things are REALLY ramping up. I thought it was busy last week but things have gone. Up a notch this week. Hard to capture in a still photo without sound but I've tried.

As part of its public relations campaign, the European Recovery Programme sponsored an international poster contest on the theme, “Intra-European Co-operation for a Better Standard of Living”. Over ten thousand entries from thirteen countries were submitted in local country competitions from which the twenty-five award-winning posters were selected. Prominent graphic arts experts, each representing a different Marshall Plan country, made up the jury. First prize went to Reijn Ddirksen from The Netherlands.

on the evening of Wednesday 16th December 2009 the Craftivist Collective were invited by Oxfam to be part of a creative campaigns workshop with some of their active campaigners around London.

We gave everyone a christmas craftivism kit to start making in that session and finish off at home. we were also asked to explain what our group does and what craftivism means.

also invited were the amazing 'Shoreditch Sisters' who are a young Womens Institute group who have just started getting into craftivism in their own unique way. the other guest spot was for a improvisation drama guy who taught us how to act out scenes linked to injustices.

it was a lovely evening that included mulled wine (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), chocolate logs and cheese with crackers.

all the Oxfam campaigners were really keen to know what we are doing and how they can get invovled which was lovely :)

here are some photos of the craftivism kits we gave them:

they were asked to make their own yellow felt star keyring that had 'be a star' on the front. they also were given rubbish to recycle to make into tags saying how a person can be a star this christmas by doing things that make people aware of injustices in the world and try to improve our world. there were asked to give the gift to a friend or leave it in a public place for a passer by to find and keep.

Campaign Kick Off Celebration and Activities

Clean-up campaign 13th of April 2019.

Project Clean Environment and Bee’ah - our sustainability partner!

This morning we all gathered in the Industrial area of Sharjah, an empty place, a truck parking lot and extremely heavily littered.

There are containers on every corner of that plot, Bee’ah empties them twice a day, but unfortunately people still feel they can drop everything where they stand, lots of plastic bottles and caps, plastic bags with the remains of fast food, tie-wraps, carpets, far too many cigarette butts, wires, again too much to list.

We were with many volunteers coming from Dubai and Sharjah, Adearest and My Green Chapter

Big thanks and compliments to Bee’ah, our sustainability partner, on the campaign.

It is sad that such awareness campaign is necessary in the first place, but at the same time wonderful that all these people working together in cleaning and raising awareness.

Thank you ALL again so much for your dedication, let’s hope together we can change it for the better!

Racism: The Elephant in the Room (or Park)

Seattle, Washington, August 17, 2015 - People are invited to participatein a public interactive art installation to expose racism as the"elephant in the room".

On Monday, August 17, 2015, from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm, at Westlake Parkin Seattle, the public is invited to join us in learning about racismand white privilege through visually rich, interactive art andengagement in positive dialog and seek skills for addressinginstitutional racism.

At 2 pm, the action moves from Westlake to the City Council chambers. There, activists will challenge City Council members to combatinstitutional racism by protecting Hookah Lounges, predominantly ownedby people of color and currently under attack. They will also call onthe Council to reject zoning that will permit the construction of anexpanded juvenile detention center, misleadingly called the "King CountyFamily and Children's Justice Center," stop the city-sponsoredgentrification of areas in the city that are home to people of color, and to end police brutality.

This interactive art exhibit and challenge to the City Council arecoming from a collection of activists who are from the Pacific Northwestand around the country that met at a Backbone Campaign's Localize This! Action Camp. As a group, we are predominantly white activists who are looking inwardsand reaching out to our peers to join us in this action. We arechallenging ourselves and others to move beyond denial and defensivenessto commit to taking one concrete step towards racial justice and toshare our challenge.

Washington DC, The White House, the evening of July 14, 2014. Code Pink, The Washington Peace Center, Arab Anti-Discrimination League and US Campaign To End The Israeli Occcupation sponsored a rally to protest the bombing and siege of Gaza, the lawless and pointless spying on Muslim citizens by our out of control government and the continuing barbaric incarceration without charge or trial of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay Cuba despite our President's broken promises to end it. Muslim groups had been invited by President Obama to the White House to break their fast at an Iftar meal to celebrate Ramadan but some are boycotting this event.

UN Women launches the year-long campaign, "Empowering Women, Empowering Humanity: Picture it!," to spark global dialogue and actions on women's right and gender equality at the Apollo Theater in Harlem, New York.

In the packed theatre, UN officials, feminist activists, celebrities and performers took the stage, to celebrate the achievements of the last 20 years, while underlining the gaps that remain across the world in advancing the women's agenda.
