Prior to enjoying the main event last night - my retirement party at The Boathouse in Cambridge - oh, and watching England beat the Netherlands at soccer, I took a few pictures of the delightful River Cam in late afternoon sunshine.
My son Chris (8 yr) got into this cam fight with my brother Wouter ..

Location
Cam Ranh Bay is one of the deepest natural bays in Southeast Asia, located 45 km South of Nha Trang City. During the American Vietnam War, it served as an important airbase for the american airforce. The seascape in the bay is breathtaking and is still virgin. The sea water is blue and crystal clear. Waves are very soft year round even in the stormy conditions.
Time
I arrived before sunrise at 4:00 am when it was still dark. There were several rains on the night before. Therefore, there were lots of clouds in the sky in the following morning, which helped adding drama to the sunrise.
Techniques
2-stop hard step grad ND filter for darkening the brighter sky and bringing it into balance with the darker foreground rock.
10-Stop solid ND filter for a 105 second exposure time, which turned the water into a smooth and misty surface.
Circular polarizer filter for increasing the overall color saturation and and making the sea surface in the foreground to be semi-transparent.
Hyperfocal distance focusing at 1.6m for fullframe 16mm at f/5.6
Single file captured in raw and processed in Lightroom.
So I finally figured out what I was supposed to do.
Four lights, two fluorescent, one halogen and one HID.
Set the camera on manual, fast shutter and decent DOF. Make sure the right (fast) SD card is in the primary slot.
Take shitloads of pictures and find the best two.
And my little model was finally getting comfortable in his new eating location.
I think I am done with Crunchy Cam...
I wanted to get a good picture of the levitating crunchy.
Cheers.

Here it is, the Bi-cam. Made with inspiration from bricolage.108. It's basically a trashcam with a matchbox pinhole glued to the back. My version is made with a trashcam that has a panorama function, which could help create some interesting effects. Testroll came out crap (except these two).
See photos taken with it.
